22 years old, help!
« on: October 18, 2014, 01:55:38 PM »
Hi guys, I was registred a log time ago, but never posted

Here is my story:

(I'm from spain. My english level is very poor, so sorry for the mistakes.)

I'm 22 years old right now, and I have been balding since y was 17-18 years old. Now, my hairline is receding a lot and my hair is almost gone at the top and crown area, also I have been  using hair fibers to hide my hairloss in the last year, but now the hair fibers aren't capable to cover the balding zones, so I think that is the moment to shave it off.

The balding process has changed my live completely. Before start balding ( or when the bald spot wasn't very noticeable) I was  a happy and confident person, and I loved going out and meet new people, but now I can't talk with people ,especially girls without feeling observed(it seems to me that all the people are seeing my bald spot). I'm a shy person now.
Last saturday night, I felt so observed that I went home, very depressed (That never hapenned to me before!)

On the one hand, I want to shave it off, because the hairloss has token control of my live one or two years ago. I can't swim,go to the gym or ride motocross(I love it :@`), always I'm scared of the wind, rain or other meteological things. I want to be free!

But in the other hand, I'm very scared about how the people(especially the girls), will react seeing me bald.
I have read a few post from people of my age, and all they are happy being sly, and they regret not to shave it off before, but i think that that look it will not suit me. I think that I have big ears and a bad head shape. Also , I am not a tall person, I think that I mesure 1,68 cm.I'm very depressed... :'(

Here are a few photos of me,token in april, in a family holiday. please be honest!

(The fibers are appreciable, but this is because It was the third day without a shower ;D, normally the fibers werent noticeables)

Right now my hairline is more receded.

Thanks!

Lots of us question our head shape and usually there is nothing unusual about the shape at all. And lots of us have felt like you - we think other people are examining our hair loss but people really are not that concerned. I know this can be difficult. I had a hard time as a young man, too.

But looking at your photos, you are a good looking guy with a normal shaped head and normal ears. You will look good with a shaved head.

You used to have fun and confidence. Shaving your head can be a first step in getting that back. Shaving my head turned things around for me. I felt great and stopped worrying about my hair (and I think I have a weird head, big ears, and am short - lol). I looked so much better bald than balding.

I think you should shave your head.. It might take some getting used to, but you may find it's just what you need to get your confidence back and to start enjoying your life again.

Mike's right ... you are a good looking guy and I don't think you will look just fine with a shaved head. You may look a few years younger.

The biggest challenge will be for you to accept the change because it will be dramatic. But I think you will do well if you realize (after shaving) that people are not looking at your receding hairline.

If you haven't, read the "30 Day Challenge" --- and when you are ready, commit to it. Maintain the new shaved head for 30 days which will allow you and others time to adjust to the "new and improved" you.

Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes. We're on your side, whatever you choose.

I tend to think you would look good if you shaved, but you could always try out a short buzz first.  I know a lot of guys try out a really short buzz first before shaving.

Welcome! I think you have the tan and facial hair for sly. But like Tobler said, no harm in trying the short buzz first. Good luck!

Oh come one now - you are 22:  22!!!! you are a good looking guy with a nice head, face, ears AND really dark facial hair.

You are going to look great shaved - or even with a nice tight #1 buzz.  Just remember the 30 day rule.

Get out from under the worry and do all of the things you love to do.  Swim, motocross, etc. etc.  You can't let a little thing like the amount of dead keratin on top of your head stop you from being the active man that you are!

Just be confident - chicks really dig a confident man!

Hey man, like BBBA said, don't let hair loss stop you from living your life to the fullest.  Life is too short as it is and you don't need to have your mind constantly consumed by the loss of hair.  I'm 28 so I know how you feel going bald at a young age.  Like others have said, if you shave your head your confidence will shoot up in no time.  That's what happened to me and I've never felt better.  I've gotten more attention from ladies since I shaved my head than I ever did with hair.  It's all about how you carry yourself.

I would try it, you a a handsome guy and shaving your head won't change that.

Try it for a bit and if you don't like it, then stop.
First started shaving my head on the 9th October 2014

I would go for shaving your head and moving on with your life.  You will look great and the only person that it matters to is you.    I have had nothing but complements on my new look ever since I went all the way to a completely bald smooth head.
Keep us posted.

Hi guys,

The day after writing the first post,I had a short cut(the number 2 of my machine), and I'm using less hair fibers. So, when the shaving time comes, the difference would be less.

Every day I'm thinking to shave, and when I decide to do it, I will post it!

Thanks for everything!!!

PD:(As I wrote above,I'm from spain and my english level is very bad,  so sorry for the mistakes :-[ )

First, your english is just fine.

Secondly, you're a handsome guy and you should not have to feel depressed at the age of 22, especially regarding hair.

I see that you cut your hair on #2. Good for you. Keep it going. If you want to try shorter, go for it. It's all about what you like.. But... I suggest trying a shave :)

Good for you! You sound better and I bet the #2 cut looks good. You're thinking about shaving every day, so what are you waiting for? Good luck and post pictures when you do it!

Dude, you look great. You know what? The pic I like most is the second one (with the sunglasses on your head) probably because you seem to have the head shaved due to the sunglasses covering the longer hair on top. I think you will look batter with a completely buzzed or shaved head

Welcome.  Second set of photos will give you a good idea of how you will look sly
