Shiny head

I'm considering going down the shaving route (currently I buzz my hair down with clippers and no guard).
One question I have is I notice from a lot of the avatars that some of you guys have amazing shiny heads, is this a natural effect or do you put something on your head to do this?

Lots of turtle wax!
Actually it's mostly natural. There are lotions that will improve the shine

Hi Mike, many of us use the witch hazel/aloe/tea tree oil mixture. Gives a good shine. I just read about another trick, and it is like a mirror! Spritz hairspray on and let it dry, amazing! I won't do it often as I don't think it would be good for the skin.

Mine tends to be naturally shinny but I also sometimes use aloe verra as a post shave balm. That helps make my head more shinny.

Just took this selfie a few minutes ago, doesn't show up how shiny it really is, also shows the goatee coming back in nicely.

Selfies! I just took mine.
My head is pretty much naturally matte -- though it will take on a shine now and again. I wish it were shiner!
Dang -- do I need a trim!

I have a fairly dry head that can break out at times. When I want shine, hairspray usually does the trick for me.

I use nothing on my dome except aftershave, so its shine is completely natural - although I really wish it had the matte finish Sly Bear touts.

As I've been watching for the shine, here's what I notice. The guys who are BBN seem to just naturally have a shine. Being BBC, I tend to not be so shiny, as there is all those hair folicles still on my head.
I use Head Slick Glossy which seems to help add a shine. Aloe Vera also seems to give some shine. I've not tried turtle Wax, but I bet it would help. Maybe Lemon Pledge, but then you'd look like a piece of furniture.
Now a coating of varithane should really do the trick.

Mine becomes very shiny after rinsing with cool water. I get asked a lot what I put on it but I don't use anything to make it shine, not just shine you can see reflections on it.

My dome is also naturally on the matte side too. I just use Headblade Headlube Glossy to shine it up. Two or three applications of aloe gel also gives a super shine too. Typically, i'll go with a matte 'finish' for work and off hours I like it glossy!!!
Eucerin daily moisturizer with SPF15 is also leave the dome shiny and protected from the sun.

I have to go with Headlube Glossy. Full discloser here. I am a Headblade "fanboy" I use the whole line from Pre to Post shave.

Bullfrog brand sun blocks make my head shine like chrome for some reason. Ive actually had people come up and ask if i wax and polish it after shaving. The more shine the better.
