Hey guys,
The reason I'm linking to you to the post is because I recently started blogging and want to share the blog with you all without having to retype the content.
I've found there to be a huge difference between accepting hairloss and fully embracing being bald. That's what I decided to highlight in today's blog. I'd love it if you could give it a read and tell me what you think
http://hairlossbaldwin.com/embracing-vs-accepting-hair-loss/It's also something for guys on the fence, to understand that embracing the bald look is a process.
Thanks!
It's an interesting take. I'm sure it's true for many of the men on this forum.
I have been blessed that I never took any of my identity or confidence in my hair. I had extremely thick hair as a child (to the point that my barbers always expressed envy), but I never took any pride in that. When I was playing football in high school, I hated the feeling of matted hair under my helmet, so I shaved it. I found out then that I really liked the way it felt, regardless of how it looked. When my hair started receding and thinning on top in my early 20s, I made the decision then that I would keep it until 30 and then go sly (although I didn't know that term at the time). When the time came, I stuck with my decision and I've never looked back. I love being bald, and I definitely think I look better sly than I did with thinning and receding hair.
Whether you are a Christian or not, this verse has a lot of truth and hopefully can bring some comfort:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well - Psalm 139:13-14
And for the secular argument, while I have mixed feelings about the overall theme of the movie, the famous Fight-Club quote always comes to mind when I think about the way people struggle with this issue.
"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your !@#$%^& khakis" - Tyler Durden
I would also add, You're not how much hair you have on your head.
I got tired of sitting on the fence and I took the plunge almost 3 months ago and since have never felt better. I get compliments especially when I added the goatee - salt and pepper better on me then clean shaven on the face What do you think
Nice article. I've been there. It took a long time for me to accept the balding. Once I accepted it, my road to embracing it was quicker. I love gwsmallwood's comment, "you're not how much hair you have on your head!" Awesome.
And 02kpjw, I think the salt and pepper goatee looks good. It's hard to say if it's better than clean shaven without seeing a photo. I like my goatee best but I often grow a full beard and also often shave completely just to keep things interesting!
Interesting to me how many of us sly guys seem to compensate with facial hair. I had my goatee long before I went sly. I've tried shaving a few times and my wife doesn't like it. I actually would prefer a full beard if I could grow one (dang Cherokee blood).
Baldwin, I think that you put it very well. This seems like a good article.
I got bored looking from the fence and I took the plunge almost 3 years ago. I'm glad i did

Thank you for the response to my salt and pepper goatee. I do not have a photo readily available of clean shaven, but I like this look better.
