I've been a member for a year, sly for eight months (passing through the 30 day rule of course), and this is my first posting. Thank you all for your support even if it was given to me anonymously. I feel that I know some of you a little bit, although of course this is your first introduction to me.
Since I went sly not a single person has asked me directly about the change (I had a full head of grey hair, and now have only an annoying shadow on the sides of the head), even though there have been a few enquiries about my health.
It has been a true liberation, and it makes me glad every day. I'm still enjoying the smells and sensations of various lotions and potions, brushes and foams. My confidence has soared.
So, this post is the last part of my jump aboard the good ship Sly.

Hello and welcome Egghead. I also shave a full head of grey hair! I love sliding the shower curtain open and looking in the mirror every morning and not seeing that grey hair. It's been 15 months for me, and I still enjoy it.
Some of the guys will be shocked, but I am considering shaving off my goatee and mustache to see just how young I would look.

Thanks for the encouragement. Your postings have been very positive along my journey. I still have my beard, tapered in a kind of Hollywood from very thin at top of ear to a number three at base. Tried a goatee, but it made me look as if I was trying too hard. Strange, because I really like them on other people.
This bit is more nerve-racking than I thought. Worse still, my picture looks fine in my profile, but seems to have been cropped by the time it got to the avatar. I will try again.

Welcome. A bald head and beard or goatee is a perfect combination - but I am biased.

Welcome, Egghead! I'm glad you're enjoying being sly and also that you've joined in by posting. Keep 'em coming. As for the avatar, the max width is 160 pix. It you adjust that, I think you'll be fine.
Reddog, I totally get your wanting to shave off the goatee. I periodically shave it all off just to change it up a bit and remind myself what my face really looks like. I've got a bushy goatee now (my wife hates it). Come mid October, I plan to grow back my beard and probably keep that until spring when I'll either bring back the goat or shave it all off.
If you do decide to take it off, there's got to be photos!

Welcome Egghead ... from another "shave away the gray" guy (2+ years for me). You are indeed in fine company.

Welcome to the club, egghead. Like you, I also have a full head of grey hair. I got tired of taking care of it, though, and shaved it all off a little over two years ago. There's no going back now!

Maximum picture width for profile pictures is 160 pixels. Use or can view picture editor to resize your picture. It will let you specify the width at 160.
Welcome.
I'm BBC, too. I shave a full head of hair. Not greying yet on top, although beard is mostly white. I've had the full beard since Jan 1, 1980. Never have shaved it off.

Welcome, Egghead!
I'm a fan of the shaved head and full beard or the goatee. I think the reason you feel the goatee on you looks like you are trying too hard is because it is what you really want the most. Go for it. I think sometimes we don't allow ourselves to look how we really want or to do what we really want... (we hold ourselves back, when in reality nobody else would even care what we did).

Thanks to everybody for the support. Now that I have begun contributing it will be hard to stop me!
I will take on board the suggestion about the better groomed beard / goatee. Something to play around with... but I wonder why I am self conscious about the shaping of the beard, when I so much love the shining dome!
Maybe I am just weird.
