I'm new to the site, but I've been shaving the dome for a little over three years. Family heritage left little doubt about the destiny of my hair, so I decided to just start shaving before it really started to disappear. I just started wet shaving with a traditional DE safety razor about a month ago. I was looking for a better shave that didn't irritate my skin so badly and didn't cost so much. I'm still learning and experimenting, but so far I really enjoy it. I spent quite a bit of time lurking prior to commtting to the safety razor and there's a lot of great advice here.
Thanks for the help.

Welcome aboard! What's your DE handle, razor and shaving soap of choice?

I'm still working with my intro kit. A Feather Popular and a Van Der Hagen brush and soap combo. I'm still working my way through a blade sampler but so far I like the Feathers and the Astra platinums best. Still have some Personnas and Gillette yellows to try.
I really like uberlather. Right now I'm using the soap above and some canned goo, but definitely plan to upgrade both.
I have really thick hair and fairly sensitive skin so I think I'm gonna try a slant next. I've heard good things about the adjustables, but from what I read I think the slant might suit me better.

Welcome to the group! I've been thinking of moving to using DE razors myself but I'm a bit worried about cutting my scalp. Enjoy the group and post often! :-)

I wouldn't be worried about cutting yourself. I've been doing it for over a month now and only nicked myself a few times. Just start with a mild razor/blade combo. I would be more worried about it becoming a time- and money-consuming hobby. For me it has been addicting, but at least I now look forward to an activity that I once loathed.
