ICE CREAM. . .
« on: June 21, 2014, 10:19:14 AM »
Hello fellow chrome domes:  It is summer here in the good ole USA and when I think of summer I think of ice cream.  I remember discussing this subject in the past and I thought it would be fun to discuss it again.

So... what is your favorite flavor or flavors of ice cream?  When was the last time you had a scoop?  Will you have some in the next few days?

I'll start:  For me, my favorite flavor is vanilla and rocky road.  The last time I had a scoop was a couple of months ago.  Since, it has been that long, yes I will probably have a scoop later today.

So... how 'bout you?  What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?  When was the last time you had a scoop?  Will you be having a scoop in the next few days?  What's your story?

My favorite is vanilla.  The weird thing is, my REAL favorite is just soft-serve (not the frozen yogurt version).

When I was a kid, my family would make homemade vanilla, banana, or peach.  All of these were good.

Also, when I was a kid if we went to an ice cream parlor as a treat. I would always get my favorite at that time....grape sherbet!    LOL

The last ice cream I had was a few days ago...vanilla,  and in the  spirit of Independence Day, I noticed a new one that I will have to try:  Red,White, and BlueBell!- strawberries and blueberries in Bluebell's awesome vanilla.  I wouldn't normally get something like this,  but Bluebell makes the best.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup by Breyers. To make it extra good I nuke about 2 ounces of extra chunky peanut butter and pour it over the top as you would with hot fudge.

My favorite flavors are strawberry and peach.  I will probably have some within the next few days.  I'll have to think about getting some of that Bluebell that you mentioned Myke.  That sounds yummy!

My favorites are chocolate and mint chocolate chip.  I had soft serve chocolate and vanilla twist with chocolate sprinkles last Sunday for Father's Day.

Damn, now I'm craving ice cream!

Vanilla Bean.

It is rare that I eat ice cream, and even rarer that I am fortunate enough to find that flavor when I am buying any.

Extreme Moose Tracks. Not sure if it's from Dreyers or Safeway Select.

About 25 years ago we made some cantaloupe ice cream at home. It was delicious.  I read online that they can't make it in commercial quantities.

Wish they could. I'd buy some.

I do like strawberry cheesecake ice cream.  Cookies and cream.  or make your own frozen yogurt.

Hi Gents:  I thoroughly enjoyed all your responses.  I love the diversity of the responses.  Well... later tonight we are going to enjoy a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream.

On a side note... don't be shy and share with us your ICE CREAM response.  @ Mr. Zed,  HI Dan. . .  I did not know about cantaloupe ice cream.  Wow that does sound delicious.

There's a nice cream place about a half mile from me that won a state contest with 's'mores ice cream.  The ice cream tastes like a cold version of graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallow with a little ice cream mixed in.  It's delicious!

I'm the guy who goes to Baskin Robbins 31 flavors and orders vanilla. I like straight up hard scooped vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup ( not hot fudge) and real whipped cream. We don't buy much ice cream for the house so when we have it, it's a treat. I imagine there will be a number of opportunities to indulge this summer.

I LOVE ice cream!

My favorite ice cream is the coffee ice cream that my best friend and I used to make as kids.  I don't like any any of the other coffee ice creams.

If I go to Baskin Robins, I usually get a scoop of Pralines and Cream and Chocolate Peanut Butter because I can't decide on just one.

For Ben and Jerry's it's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough or Oatmeal Cookie.
