Did The Deed
« on: August 06, 2007, 03:13:19 PM »
Fellers--

After years (decades) of primping, worrying, disguising, and just stressing out over my receding hairline, I just took it all off.

About two weeks ago, I developed a rash that was making me itch up front and on top of my head.  Enough that the already sparse fields were looking very barren.  So, to help speed up the "healing", I got a crew cut.

I hated that look.  Grayish buzzed hair on the sides, a bald space on top, then a little tuft of hair in front.

Last Friday after work, I took out the shaver and buzzed the rest of it myself.  I had been lurking here for a few days, so I also went out and purchased some HeadSlick, and read up on proper shaving technique.  A little while later, presto--totally bald!

This weekend here in Jersey was pretty hot so I was very careful about sun exposure--just a little bit both days.  I want that even-all-over look, but not at the expense of a sunburn, so again, thanks for the tips on proper noggin' care.

Reactions?  So far, great.  In my day job, I sell to the construction industry and am outside most of the day, so I can wear a company cap.  But this look fits in well with construction guys.  Lots of sly and potential sly guys there...

My "other" job is Stand-Up Comic.  In fact, the night I shaved it all off, I did a show at Broadway Comedy Club in NYC.  Now, I kept the Kangol Tropic Ventair on most of the night since I still have that newly shaved glow going on.  But the response was great, and I felt very comfortable and confident.  Had a very good show--and realized how often I worried about my receeding hairline before.  I've completely eliminated that problem!

Anyway, thanks for the forum, and I'll get some stage pics up soon!

Motz, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!! Glad to have you!
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.
