DermMatch Powder Applied To Shaved Head To Look Like Hair

Hi everyone,
I'm still on the fence about shaving my head and haven't pulled the "plug" yet ... no pun intended.
My wife was online tonight and found this topical stuff called DermMatch. Apparently they sell mostly to plastic surgeons and dermatologists to give to hair transplant patients but the company says that their product could be used on a shaved head and that it looks like real hair.
I'm not quite at the point where I'm ready to shave it all off but if I could apply a product and make it look like I still have hair then I might be willing to go for it. I had thought about doing the HisHair scalp tatooing but my wife doesn't feel comfortable with the concept of a scalp tatoo.
Does anyone know if this stuff does look like hair on a bald scalp?
Here is a video from youtube of some guy showing how to do it and it looks reasonable to me. It looks mean a lot of work every few days to apply the stuff (supposedly it lasts on the scalp for several days) but I'm interested in others have tried it or a similar product like Toppik or Caboki.
Here is the company website:

Hi Brian: Are you serious?

?? That youtube guy is basically applying some type of make up to cover and hide his chrome dome. What happens if it rains or he sweats in the summer heat? Or if some one gives him a head rub? That looks FAKE!!!
The "Dermmatch" is another intervention to cover and hide one's dome. I bet it costs a lot of MONEY!!! Wow... I cannot believe that you are thinking about it. You stated before that your wife is supportive of you when you decide to shave your head.
I say do NOT do it. Do not hide from the truth!!!!!! The truth will set you free IF YOU EMBRACE THE TRUTH BY SHAVING YOUR DOME AND WEARING IT WITH PRIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF that will make you happy by putting on some type of make-up on your head like the youtube guy in your post. Or by joining the "Dermmatch" plan, then I say do what you think will make you happy. I just feel kinda bad for you that you want to hide the truth. Good luck on what ever you decide to do, sir.

Brian, just go with the 30 day rule and all of this will seem silly in the end. Trust me and the thousands of men who have done the same.

First I hope and pray that your wife's recovery is going well....That having been said, I'm going to level with you here. You've been a member for several months now, and you haven't even posted a picture (not that you have to, but most members who are serious will post some form of picture so we can give advice on what they're working with). You say that you don't think you're ready to shave your head bald, and that is okay, but it seems like every time we turn around you're inquiring about all of these gimmicks such as hair tattooing, dermamatch powder, etc. While it is a member's choice to combat his/her hair loss in his/her own way, in my opinion if you're going to waste money on those things, you might as well just keep the hair system charade going, IMO. Everyone says try the 30 day rule and even your wife seems supportive but you keep coming up with the same excuses and gimmicks over and over. If you don't want to shave, it's okay, that's not a requirement for membership here, but given that there are worse things in life that you can go through (you don't have to look any further than your wife) your "whining" about something as simple as hair systems and hair loss, I don't know what to tell you man....Whatever you decide to do, good luck to you and your wife will still be in my prayers.

Brian: I also wanna say prayers to your wife who is recovering from breast cancer. So... what are you going to do? You posted back in August 21, 2013 about thinking about shaving your head with your wife's support who is recovering from breast cancer.
Since then, who have been making numerous excuses about not shaving your head. If you want to hide, conceal it with "make-up" or this Dermmatch that you talk about then do it. Whatever makes you happy. Just don't keep posting numerous excuses, as stated in this post. You hid your baldness with the toupee. Now you want to hide it with this make-up type of intervention. If you are going to do that then I would just wear the "rug".
Again, prayers to your wife for a full recovery. Good luck in your decision to either hide or embrace your chrome dome.

Brian, this forum is populated by guys that love the shaved head look. If you are so into having hair on your head (or what looks like hair) then maybe this is not the forum for you. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Thanks. That's been my impression. This forum is great for those who are ready to shave it all off. For those of us who are on the fence and looking at all of our options, this isn't the best place. I've had a very long year taking care of my wife through multiple surgeries and many months of chemotherapy and this is a very difficult decision for me. The attitude on this forum has mostly been that all other options are bogus and just shave. I may come to that decision ultimately but for now I'm looking at what might work best for me. There are many other options out there worth exploring and that's what I'm doing right now. I imagine that there are other "fence dwellers" out there who feel the same way.

Hey, Brian. Sorry you still are struggling with this issue.
There are numerous companies who are more than eager to take advantage of a man's insecurity about his hairloss and part him from his money by selling him a "magic cure" for his baldness. Your wife found one that has been around under one brand or another for decades.
It is a substance that adheres to hair follicles to make them appear thicker and thereby cover thinning areas. Makeup companies have marketed the same stuff for a long time. It is called mascara. The stuff also can stick to the scalp, but it is like a powder covering the skin rather that anything resembling hair. On camera and from a distance, it looks like a solid covering that at a glance can be confused for hair, but up close, it looks nothing like what you want people to think is growing up there.
Seriously, Brian. If you really want to get rid of that hairpiece, the only way to do so is to take it off. If you do not want to give up the illusion of having hair, then accept your choice and be happy with it. As the name of this board makes pretty obvious, we are guys who chose to face hairloss by going all the way.
We all can give you our opinions, but there comes a time when you have to decide what YOU want. Shaved is not necessarily the best solution for every guy, but only you can know what is right for you.

I used Dermmatch before. its makeup with different name. kinda like toupee vs. hair system...same thing......... I had spots of hair missing in my toupee and I would apply some of that to TRY and cover....Its will wash off if it rains or shower or if you sweat a lot.... I watched a show with Richard simmons on it over the weekend called " sing your face off". Looked like he was using it. Look it up. I was laughing so hard... . Looked like S__T....

Apparently they sell mostly to plastic surgeons and dermatologists to give to hair transplant patients but the company says that their product could be used on a shaved head and that it looks like real hair.
I'm trying to figure out why anyone would shave his head and then apply a product to make it look like he had hair. Seems a bit contradictory, don't you think?

Because a full head of shaven hair is always going to look better than a balding shaven head of hair. You can still see a hair line and no skin showing where hair loss happened..
scalp micro pigmentation is a better solution than that as its permanent or at least permanent for like 5 years before you might need a slight touch up.

Hey there,
I've just found this site today and I just had to respond to your post. I'm a 34-year-old guy, started going bald age 17, and after all the Toppik etc finally shaved my head at age 22. But then I started 'camouflaging' my head with something like Dermmatch -- bad idea! It looked fine, but what does everybody do when they see a chrome dome? - touch it! The result is just major paranoia everywhere you go. My 'solution' at the time was to get a hair system - which just led to even worse problems with people touching it etc. Even worse, I have an identical twin brother who kept his shaved head - so it must have been beyond obvious to everyone else...
Trust me, I've experienced it from both angles - I 'camouflaged' my dome for a full year, and then have been wearing a system for 11 years. If you shave your head, shave it and be proud. Otherwise, by trying to hide baldness another way, you're just exchanging one bundle of insecurities for another.
Today I've decided myself that I need to ditch my own bloody hair system , and this forum is really giving me the boost I need to go through with it. I still remember how liberating it was the first time around, and the great reactions I got - I'm just so sorry that I let a few crappy comments send me toward a hair system. After spending the day looking through a load of forums where guys are twisting themselves in knots about camouflaging the reality of their baldness, this forum seems like an oasis of realness and sanity in a world gone mad.
Good luck!! You can do it!
