Hello everyone
My name is Robert. I shaved my head for a fund raiser for a young man in my parish who was diagnosed with cancer. I was in the military so I have had well maintained hair for years, but never shaved bald. Had no intention of keeping it bald after the fundraiser was over but I love it. Checked out the forum for some tips. I swap between a 5 blade razor and an old school double edge, is there any way to keep it smooth for more than a day. I have got my shaving time down to about 10 minutes each morning but I would like to not have to shave every day. Thanks in advance for any tips and love the forum thanks for all the great info I have received thus far.

Well can't help you with not shaving every day because my hair grows fast and if I want to keep it looking good I need to shave every day.
Welcome to the forum.

On days you don't want to shave you could try a good quality electric razor. I do this some days and can shave in about five minutes. I get a pretty good shave not quite as good as the blade.

Great story of how you came to be Sly, Robert.
I really wish I knew how to stay smooth for more than a day. Several guys on the board swear the DE gets close enough to last all day for them, but I never had such luck with mine. I often end up shaving again in the evening to get rid of my head's five o'clock shadow.
Welcome to the board!

Welcome, Robert! I'm not an everyday shaver either, but there are some products that you can get that will help you stay smooth a little longer....Check out some of the other threads under "Head Shaving" for more details. Once again, welcome, and thanks for sharing a feel good story!

Hello, Robert. Welcome! I shave at night, so by the next morning, I'm stubbly. I live with that because I don't want to deal with shaving my head in the morning. It seems as if as soon as I put the razor away, the rough spots start coming in!

Sort of like a Greek chorus here...I don't like stubble, so I shave every day, too. No way I can avoid stubble after 24 hours.

Robert, I think the only way to avoid the daily shave is to get your hormones adjusted so that male pattern baldness sets in immediately and all your hair falls out! I'm not going to mess with that.
As a fellow BBC guy (bald by choice), daily shaving is necessary if you want the smooth feel. Skipping a day, YOU feel it but probably most people won't notice. Skipping 2 days, well, it shows.
I use the Head Blade sport. Shave is done in about 5 minutes in the shower. Consider this time to pamper yourself. I follow up, when I have time with a sugar/oil scrub. My head feels so smooth on those days.
You are pretty early on ... still building the habit. After some time of shaving your head it rather gets addicting and you won't want to go without it.
You look really good with your shaved head. Keep it up. Stick around for some encouragement and tips.

Welcome Robert:
I am a newbie also. I am retired military also and kept a High,Tight and Brutal Horsehoe Flattop until earlier this year when I shaved my head in support of a little boy with cancer. (Now he thinks that BBC is Cool!). I too took the 30 day challenge and decided to keep it for the summer at least. After that, we will see.
I shave at night and live with the stubble because I cannot be bothered with any extra chores in the morning. (Get up and GOOOOO!). I too shave every other day. I can "feel" the difference but others don't notice. I get a better shave if I do it every other day instead of every day. But if I go more than every other day the stubble "shows".

Welcome Robert. Sorry to say, but even the closest shave will only last for a day.
