This is not a Product Review, but more like a Product Rant:
I miss my Gillette Mach 3!! The blade cartridges are so expensive, but I was able to get a pretty good deal at Sam's Club (big package of blades at a better price). Lately they only carry the Schick Hydro blade cartridges. So, why not try them, right? Well... of course they don't fit my Mach 3 so I had to buy a kit with the stick and two blade cartridges from another store (got ripped off). Then they don't shave as close, and it takes a lot longer to shave... and I end up with the feeling of razor burn in some areas and never get the close shave I had with my Mach 3.
Time to splurge on a small pack of Mach 3 Cartridges. They will be worth it at this rate.

Try the Personna Magnum M-5. They are harder to find (WalMart and Sam's do not sell them anymore), but a lot of drug stores sell them. I get my cartridges in bulk on Amazon. Cheaper and it gives a good shave.

I have tried the Fusion, and it worked better than the Schick Hydro, but not as good as the Mach 3 (for me). I may give some of the others a try too.
I don't shave my head every single day, so when I do shave it, I want to feel smooth. I don't mind feeling stubble the next day because it is more uniform that way. Razors that don't shave well the first time seem to leave areas of stubble... and that's not cool.

Which Hydro cartridge did you use, the 3 or the 5? I use the Hydro 5 and I've never had any problems with it: close shave, and no nicks or irritation unless I've waited too long to replace the cartridge. I can usually get a full week's worth of daily face and head shaves out of each cartridge.

It is the 5. I will keep using it to see if I get used to the difference. I have a lot of cartridges.

I'm partial to the Mach 3 as well Myke. When I first went sly permanently about a month ago, I also went to Sams and got some razor cartridges since I knew I'd save a lot buying in bulk. I was glad my Sams had a pack of Mach 3 cartridges but I hate yours didn't. That was the first time I'd seen the Mach 3 cartridges at mine whereas before I only saw the disposable Mach 3s. I also saw the Hydro 5 and Fusion. One thing I hate Sams took away was the 3 in 1 package of Edge Sensitive Skin Shave Gel. Was that still there at your Sams Myke?

I haven't seen the multi-pack of Edge gel there lately either. AJ.
That's what I use too.

Well, i ordered a Mach 3 today with several blades as the Fusion is ok but with all those blades it is a gimmick! I DE shave these days but a couple of times lately i have had to finish of with a cartridge shaver! So, i decided to get me a Mach 3 with several blades. Just feels so relaxed shaving with a cartridge as it can be nervous shaving with a DE!

I get about the same (happy) results from the fusion and the mach 3.
I had been using the executive package from dollar shave club for the last couple of months to save some cash. But last week when I went to change cartridges I saw I still had a pack of fusion and decided to switch back just to see if I would notice a difference, and I was really surprised by how smoother and faster my shave went.
Realistically I probably only saved about a minute or so of shave time, but I notice that some of my trouble areas would clean up with less passes than with the dollar shave club brand cartridge.
If your looking to save some green backs you might try one of the dollar shave club plans. They arent the very best, but far from the worst out there. I havent had any issues with nicks or razor burn, and I get about a week out of each cartridge. Im sure Ill be going back to them whenever I get tired of paying premium for cartridges again.

I use Dollar Shave Club too but I only get the blades every other month. In the month between I used Gillette Fusion ProGlide. The price for the ProGlides is coming down but still too pricey.
