Kevin Garnett to the Celtics...

What are your guys' thoughts on this?  I'm actually pretty amazed that he'd agree to go to the Celtics.

He probably feels he has a shot at a ring with Ray Allen and Paul Peirce.

I am amazed too, I thought KG would do a Larry Bird and stay with 1 team his whole career.

I wonder what his salary will be now.

I believe he thinks it's a shot at a ring with Pierce and Allen.  He just saw the Cavaliers get to the finals with one great player and a bunch of nobodies.  The East is so weak.  I think the Celtics have got to be a favorite in the East.  I mean, at least they are as good as anyone else over there.  KG might be thinking - go to the soft Eastern Conference, let all the Western teams beat up on each other during the playoffs and the Celtics may win one.

As for pulling a Larry Bird and staying with one team, it just doesn't happen anymore.  With the salaries these guys can demand and the management's win now attitude, guys will be staying shorter stints with their original team.

Steve, I just now got your username SoonerSteve...Your from Oklahoma :*)).....Just now registered as I read your post and I clicked on your name and sure enough your in Oklahoma..

What part of the Sooner State?

Indeed the East is very weak. This will be an exciting season to watch with 3 showponys on the same team, Celtics have a real good chance of making the playoffs and maybe even the finals.

The heyday for the NBA for me and pro sports in general was 1988-2000. Since the beginning of this Millenia, its seems like the almighty dollar has trumped the athleticism and excitement that Sports has always given us. David Beckham made this all the more apparent when he signed a deal to play soccer for 1.3 million dollars A WEEK!!!!

A lot of players would like to stay with one team for their entire careers. I think Kevin is one of them. But Minnesota is not one of those teams though.

The Cav's are building their franchise around one superstar and made it to the playoffs. Kevin is a superstar, but for as long as he has been in Minnesota, they never made the same effort as the Cav's to build their franchise. Boston has been really bad recently, but they have as history like no other team in the NBA. And by getting Getting Garnett, he knows he has a really good shot and the championship ring that has eluded him.

i'm NOT a fan of the celtics but they got something going with a LETHAL WEAPON 3 of ray allen, paul pierce, & KG.  man.... that should b interesting.  they r definitely a playoff team in the weak eastern conference.  IMO the nba hasn't been the same since the jordan years.  it's gonna b weird seeing KG in a celtic uniform.
