Well, thanks to the support and advice of many of you guys here I did go sly Friday July 20th as I had been planning. Today is my first day back at work and I am finally able to drop a post (I have been out of town on vacation). To give a hint on how it went I had planned to shave Friday night and let it grow back over my vacation (as a trial run). However, I liked it so much I am sitting here at work freshly shaved (against the grain of course) as I type. I had purchased a headblade/headlube/headshed prior to my first shave so I have shaved with my headblade about a dozen times now. So far (crossing fingers) I have not nicked myself even once. I must admit the first shave with the headblade was awkward and took at least 20 minutes, but I have gotten the hang of it over the last week and a half and am much quicker than I was to begin with. I also made it a point to go out in the sun for 30 - 40 minites at mid-day for most of my vacation, so my head is no longer the sickly pastey white it was when I first shaved. I do have 2 spots on my head that I can never get completely smooth no matter how hard I try!
So far I only have two concerns. I have two dips in the back of my head that I can get the hair out of (to the eye) but can never get that smooth feeling that I get with the rest of my head when I go against the grain. And trust me I hit those spots multiple times from every angle. And as you guys know the smooth is addictive!
I have been using headblade razors (planning to try atra's) and I only get 2 (maybe 3 if I push it) shaves per blade. Is that about normal, or am I just sensitive or something? I am BBC, so I have a ton of hair to cut through
Thanks again for all your encouragement. I'm definitely staying sly. It's addictive!

X. The new look is AWESOME. Welcome to the club. As for blade life, I think a lot of it depends on how thick your hair is. I have MPB and real thin hair so I can get about 10 shaves. Your shaving area looks really dark so I am assuming your hair is much thicker so I would guess you would get fewer shaves. Good luck and welcome to the SLY side.

X Man, you look great. It sounds like you're already to the obsession stage with needing it completely smooth. I take a regular blade to any areas that I can't get to work with my HB. I'm not sure if you're trying to hit those tough areas with the HB or not. You're not alone in wanting everything perfect... it's a 'curse' many of us live with. As far as blade life, I can't say because I am MPB, but my generic Atras work great and are ultra cheap.

Outstanding X, looks friggin awesome. Told ya sly was addictive. To get those really tough spots you might want to trying slicking up again and hitting them with a fusion or other blade. I have a horizontal crease across the back and have the same problem. Only way to get that totally smooth is with another blade. For some reason the HB just won't do it. Congrats bro.

X, as everyone else said, it looks awesome! Congrats on your new slick look!
In regards to the use of the blades, I don't get as much out of the Atra as I do the Sensor blades. But, I'm really guessing that it's due to you having some thick hair.

Hey the Slyness looks great bro
Cant really imagine you with hair, it is a very natural look for you.
I too am BBC and have a full head of thick coarse hair. I find I too get about 2-4 shaves with the HB blades but I've gotten the HB adaptor that lets you use Excel blades and I can get about 6-10 from them.
The other sly bros have given you the best advice with the rough spots. The HB is a great razor but sucks at getting trouble spots. A straight handled razor over the tough spots will fix that problem and make 100 percent of your dome smooth slick and spot free.
Great decision to go sly and join La Hermandad
