So Confused

You guys are great, a wealth of information.
Ok here is my problem. I don't shave everyday, I don't have the time and my skin is pretty sensitive.
I tried the skull shaver and a Panasonic wet/dry. They were ok but missed so many spots because I guess I shaved every 3-4 days.
So then I tried the headblade and I'm running into the same problem. It takes me about 25 mins to shave my head with having to go over spots multiple times.
Any ideas? Or do I just need to do it every days or every other day? Is electric good if I use everyday.
Also, this is my routine, any improvements?
Wet my head
Use shave secret
Use nivea sensitive skin shaving cream
Shave with headblade
Use nivea for men balm aftershaver

I'm not a Head Blader because I prefer safety razors (DE or SE). However, we have a huge population of Head Bladers and I hope they can chime in. Good luck and keep us posted.

You're not alone with that issue. I think a lot of us here miss spots when we shave. I know I do! Don't let it bother you.

Hey, Richie, if you're okay with the headblade, why don't you try this:
1. If you can shave during or after showering, that's the best time to catch wet hairs for a closer shave.
2. Invest in a shaving brush with a small scuttle (shaving bowl) (I think you can get a starter brush somewhere for $10). If not, an old coffee mug will do
3. Mix your Shave Secret and your Nivea in the scuttle with the brush till you get a nice lather.
4. Apply the lather across your head with the brush.
As you get more experienced with the brush, you may want to invest in some of the tools that our more seasoned shavers have. Good luck and PM me if you have any questions!

I'm thinking of using my schick hydro 5 to shave my head instead of the headblade. I can go 3 days without shaving my face and the schick hydro easily cuts through my beard. Any tips/ideas about using that?
Maybe that will allow me to go 3-4 days without shaving.

I use a hydro 5. It's really no different than using any other razor. Except the HB, of course. I like the results I get with the hydro 5.

Hi Richie, here's what works for me. Everyone is different. I use the electric first, everyday. I am BBC, so I have to shave my whole head, and it takes about 6 to 8 minutes. I do it while watching the morning news. Then when I shower, I lather up and use a razor to finish up, takes about 2 minutes. It took me about 2 month of daily shaving for my scalp to toughen up. I'm still trying the headblade sport, but it just doesn't seem to do a good job. I did have one headblade cartridge that seemed to work really good. Just put a new one in and it seems to pull pretty bad. It took me a long time to perfect my routine, good luck finding one that works for you.

I happen to be BBC myself but I shave my dome with a Feather Teakwood Straight Razor I do a four pass head shave, twice with the grain and twice against, between lathering up and shave prep it takes me about 40 minutes everyone has their own preference. If I don't have 40 minutes I use the Headblade ATX

I was shaving with an electric everyday and liked the results. I then tried a Gillette Fusion Pro Glide and was amazed at how much smoother it was. I save every day in the shower and it gets super smooth.
Here is my routine.
Wet head in hot shower.
Lather dome with shaving cream. I've been using the Head-lube Menthol.
Save with and against the grain feeling for any missed spots and make sure I get them all.
Finish shower.
Turn water onto cold and run it over the head to tighten up the pores.
Let head dry naturally and then apply Witch Havel. Was using Thayers but just tried Dickenson from the recommendations on here. When that's dry I rub on Aloe Vera. It doesn't take long and it feels great when done.

I do as reddog does. I shave with my Braun Series 3 '340' and then lather up the top of the head and shave with my Gillette Fusion ProGlide. Its usually just the top that needs going over but i do sometimes 'tweak' other areas.
I tried the Headblade but hated it. The above works really well for me at the mo and like reddog said it can take awhile for your 'skull' to get used to shaving. Daily is the way to go.

I'm a HeadBlade guy all the way.
The first few weeks definitely took a lot of time - learning the various contours of your scalp plus learning how to get your hand in the right place and at the right angle. But after a few weeks it dramatically diminished to probably 5 minutes to do an entire head shave (I'm also BBC, so shave everything).
Like everything ... learning a new skill requires some time to perfect.
