Anyone recommend the Merkur Futur?

Never had a DE before and what took my fancy is that it is adjustable.

Hi Koolpc:  Congrats on your interests on the traditional way of shaving.  I have the Merkur Futur and it is a great razor.  You should do a YOUTUBE search on Thomas from Denmark (head shave with Merkur Futur) and it has a head shaving video on the Futur.

Kindly keep us posted on your DE journey.  You can PM me anytime or post up a question in the SAFETY RAZOR section of the forum.

@Koolpc:  Merkur also has another adjustable razor called the Progress.  It comes in a standard handle and long handle.  You cannot go wrong with either DE razor.

I have both the Futur & progress, while very nice razors, I think they are a bit too advanced for anyone just starting out with DE shaving. No matter what razor you go with, I'd highly recommend mastering your craft on getting a nick free shave on your face before attempting a head shave.

In my experience adjustable doesn't equate to better. I'm an advocate of collecting multiple DE razors. There's no shame in trying out various razors and blades to find a combo that works best for you. Even though I've found a winning combo for me, I'll likely end up getting another razor at some point for no reason other than I like DE shaving.
