Yeah, but I hear that once you get the Kim Jong haircut, you wish you'd done it sooner!

If someone is balding, would they be told to get a Kim Jong wig?

Possibly.  I was wondering the same thing.  Maybe Bosley can open a branch there. Should be easy for them -- one size fits all!

Every time I read stories out of North Korea, I feel like asking "What year is it?" Not to be even allowed a choice over your own hair has to be miserable.  Self expression is the purest form of art.

It's hard to believe the conditions some people are forced to live under.

Of course there are MANY reasons not to live in North Korea.  There seems to be lack of choice in virtually every aspect of an individual's life.  Various other countries used to impose, directly or indirectly, restrictions on appearance (and if the government controls how you look, it probably controls other aspects of your life); they have evolved.  North Korea truly is a pathetic excuse for a state.  This story is just one example.

I am actually wondering if this story is a hoax.  It seems too ridiculous to be true.

I would be interested to hear from someone who has lived or still lives in North Korea as to whether this is close to the truth or a fabrication by the media, although we all know that the media is always honest and straightforward when discussing the conditions in other countries. It all depends on how the story is spun.
For instance, I wonder what kind of haircuts are required at West Point or Annapolis or the Air Force Academy as part of their uniform regulations? If the recent history of military cosmetology is any indication I would say that "high and tight" would be the order of the day. Perhaps university education in North Korea is state funded and, as such, a dress code is a requirement for attendance.
I just don't know so I'm askin'.

Even if this story is a hoax, it is sort of like trying to spoof the National Enquirer--the "real" stories are even more bizarre than any parodies.

I'm trying to think of one reason, good or bad to live in North Korea.
