I have a full head of hair, but I love the look and feel of a shaved head, so for at least part of every year, I take it all off and shave daily. Then, when the routine gets tiresome, I grow it back - although usually no longer than a buzz of some sort.
Anybody who tells you that shaving a full head of hair is "less maintenance" than having hair is nuts. A short buzzcut is low (or no) maintenance, but a shaved head means daily shaving - a ritual that takes 5-10 minutes for even the most seasoned veterans. So if you want to be BBC, just know that it does take some effort. But it's worth it - and I (as other posters have said) think every man owes it to himself to try shaving their head at least once in their lives.
And by the way, you may not realize it but you're already "doomed". Once the idea of shaving your head is in your thoughts - especially enough to bring you to this group - you'll have that "itch" until you give in to it. So go for it and don't torture yourself...
As it happens, I DID scratch that itch about 6 years ago. My only reason for not staying with it at the time is that I have dark hair and a light complexion, making for a very noticeable shadow no matter how close I shaved.
Now that my hair is grayer (but still far from completely gray), I'm hoping the shadow won't be quite so bad.
I actually love having a shadow, let's everyone know being shiny and slick is my choice!
I'm with Bald Luke. Don't mind the shadow being there.
I shaved a full head of hair back in... '94, and for brief periods of time that I played with hair, all sorts of cool, military styles, I shaved again. A few years later... I played with LONG hair... only to find out... haha, that I was going bald.
Now I am full-on MPB, so less to shave.
Was never a "problem".
Steve
I agree once you get the itch you need to follow through even if you then decide to let your hair grow back. I wouldn't grow mine back. I once let it grow for about 10 days and my wife - who was initally rather put out by my bald head - said 'get rid of that mess'.
I don't mind having a shadow. Being BBC, and not having grey hair, it's just there. I also have to put up with less than total shine. The shadow gets in the way. But I really like the bald look.

Ever considered laser hair removal?
I did and still do. Would love to get rid of the hair for good.
I have a slight widows peak. I also enjoy my daily head shave. It is a lot easier to maintain and it's no bad hair days. Just try it for 90 days.
No oto lazer hair removal. I'll put up with the shadow.
