Almost used magic shave...found an old thread and decided not to...you guys saved me...I enjoy shaving (actually was using DE, brush and soaps on face before going sly) but I just wish it would stay smooth longer...I have Velcro on my head three hours after a shave...if anyone has suggestions for longer lasting smoothness I would appreciate it..especially if it doesn't involve melting my head lol

I used to get some rough spots after a few hours and would definitely be sandpapery all over by the end of the work day, but nowadays it takes a full 24 hours to get that all-over sandpaper feeling. I'm not sure why because I'm not doing anything any differently. Sometimes I wonder if my hair has thinned in the fringe area.

I guess I just put to much into expecting it to stay slick

My shaves have been lasting longer (18, 24 or even 30 hours). when I added Shave Secret to my shaving soap. Another way to keep it smooth longer is to dip your blade in baby oil....Sharper blades and Shave Secret help the blade glide over my head resulting in a BBS feel for 24 hours and a BBS appearance for up to at least three days.

I bought a tube of Magic Shave and almost used it, until I did research on here. I'm not a big fan of shaving, but I love having a shaved head.

Despite numerous warnings on here as well as several YouTube videos that have documented the devastation that Magic Shave can inflict on the scalp, I also almost tried it a few weeks ago. I was walking around in Target and noticed that they've begun selling a Magic Shave for Sensitive Skin. Like others, I have also been craving the completely smooth feeling for a longer period of time. However, I 'm not willing to risk burning my scalp to get it. Instead, I'm contemplating switching to the HeadBlade. I currently use a Gillette Fusion.

I think it was around 8-9 years ago I tried nair on my head, HUGE mistake!!! Even though it warns you not for use on your head I tried it anyways, burnt patches on my scalp, even worse was the fact that I couldn't shave until my scalp healed, I had patches on my head, luckily at the time I could wear a bandanna to hide it until it healed, lesson learned! Follow the directions and no nair on the head.

My uncle who despite having perfect hair ( think John stamos ) has been BBC for probably the last 15 years..I once watched him(6ft 250lbs) put Nair all over his head then begin too dance around screaming like a little kid doing the pee pee dance trying to get it off...it was the funniest thing I had ever seen even though I felt sorry for him

I use the headblade ATX. It is GREAT. I struggle with the shadow. Since I am BBC, I actually can never get rid of the sand paper. But the ATX cuts down my shave time to just over 5 minutes. AND, I say that we are all OCD when it comes to shaving. Just do it day after day year after year and it will get to where we like it. Either that, or grow out the hair, then try to pull our roots out so it CANT grow. (lol) But honestly, even with our Shadow and sandpaper, people still see we are bald. I went 24 hours with out shaving, and my hair grows fast, and I still have fellow sly guys come up to me and talk the way of the sly.
BEST ADVICE don't worry, it will come. And if your hair never thins, maybe they will have a medical breakthrough in hair removal one day.

Haha I feel you, even more so because I shower(and therefore shave) at night so I sleep through my smoothest time!

Buy a microtouch one DE razor, it's perfect for head shaving. The only way to get a lasting shave is to get a close shave. Multi-blade carts just couldn't get it done so I switched to the one with great results and have no regrets. I got mine on amazon, it comes with its own stand and two boxes of Dorco blades.
