Tried the Headblade ATX
« on: January 28, 2014, 07:28:06 AM »
I've been using my Fusion ProGlide  since first went sly the other week.  I was at the store the other day and was in the shaving aisle and saw the Headblade ATX.  I decided to pick it up and give it a try.

While I loved how easy it is to use, I was not happy with the overall shave.  I could not get a smooth shave with it no matter how much I tried.  I ended up going over it with my ProGlide to get that nice smooth finish I like.

While a lot of people  have had success with the Headblade and as much as I like the overall concept and way it works....i'll stick to my ProGlide to get me that smooth finish.

Anybody else have similar experiences with that?

Hi M13:  I'm not a Headblader but there are many SBG members who love the HB.  I would not give up on the HB.  I would atleast give it more of a chance before giving up on it.  I am sure there will be some HeadBladers that will chime in.

Tried it but I like using my DE way better.  Looks cool sitting on the bathroom counter though.

The atx has mixed success I have it an to get a good shave I place my finger under the back of the wheels essentially holding them up off the head. The sport model is different and seems to be regarded as the best model I have it aseell an it works great. Get the sort adapters and out them on the atx

I would give the ATX at least a week before giving it the brush off.  I tried it and several other options and I personally am working with Shick Xtreme3s.

I did like the ATX but I liked working the Xtreme3s better.

I use the HB Sport almost exclusively.  I have an ATX.  Tried it. Used it through 4 blades. For me, it is just not as smooth as the Sport.

I don't nick myself with it. It feels good in the hand, but the shave is not as smooth as I can get with other razors.  They no longer sell the Sport in stores. But it's available online. Use the links on this site and save 20% at checkout. It also makes a donation to SBG when you do that.

Like you I had a similar experience.  I was not happy with the ATX shave at first.

I started with the HeadBlade Sport.  I got an ATX later on to try. Because of that "shock absorber," the ATX definitely shaves differently than the sport or a Mach 3.  My first few ATX shaves were not close and I found myself having to touch up my head with the Sport.

It took me about 5 or 6 shaves to get used to the ATX.   I like and still use my ATX. Though, I don't use it exclusively because I like to switch it up.

It took me about a week to get used to the ATX. Make sure the blades are facing the wheels. I make a with the grain pass relather, make an against the grain pass, then touch up with an across the grain pass.
Using a shave brush and headslick is the key to relathering between passes.
