Razor Bumps

So shaving for a month and a half as been going pretty well.  I've bee shaving every other day and have gotten my routine pretty much down.

Today I shaved as usual, or at least I think it was as usual and by the end of it, I had quite a few razor bumps, I would assume that's what they are, on the back of my head.  They don't hurt but actually look more like zits.  I've attached a pic for reference.  I've not had this problem in the month and half that I've been shaving.  I wondering if it's a combination of shaving a little faster than normal and having a razor, I use a Fusion Pro-Glide, with a blade that's dulled after several uses.  The shave still came out smooth, but the bumps kinda bugged a little.

Since I shave every other day, wondering if I should wait it out until Friday to shave again, or continue with my every other day routine, but this time with a fresh new blade.

How often are you changing blades? If your blade is dull you may be pushing down a little to much without realizing. And maybe invest in some pre shave oil or baby oil.

If you want to make your blades last longer (to get more uses out of them) clean them off and soak them in baby oil. A dull blade will lead to bumps every time. Also, after you shave, rub your head with an ice cube. It feels good, IMO and it closes the pores that can lead to bumps if left open too long. Good luck!

Maybe that's the problem, I'm only a month and a half in on shaving my head so this blade has seen about 8-10 uses...plus I use it on my face too.  Probably not a good idea so I'm gonna go out and buy two new razors, one for the face and one for the head, and start fresh. 

Again I think I was also rushing, was running late, and that probably contributed to it.  Fortunately, this morning, when I looked, the red bumps had subsided so I think I'll be safe to shave tomorrow or the next day.

I stroped the blade across my forearm like I had seen on  a previous thread thinking that would help, but I think the blades were on their last leg.  I normally splash the head with cold water to close the pores, but I will give the ice cube a try.  I bet that does feel good!

Hey Doc,I shave with pro-glide(changing blades after 5 uses with baby oil soak)on a daily bases myself and had some little bumps on both side of my neck behind the ears today.I shaved in the wrong direction too fast and too many passes IDK,but I used witch hazel and added Bump Patrol.Bumps still their, but gone down some.Got the ice rub from "Sir Harry" and it feels good.Bump patrol may be the answer to your problem.

  Thanks brother!  I will look into that as well.  I'm just glad it went down overnight.  Might have just been irritation from too many passes too quickly.  But as I'm new to the shaving my head game, I need all the tools I can get in order to keep it looking smooth, clean, and fresh!

Bump Patrol is another good product. I've been a full time head shaver for almost six years I'm still learning new things. Give it time guys, and it will become second nature.

Yea 8-10 uses might be too much, especially if you're using it for your face aswell.  I used to only get 4 head shaves from a blade until I came up with a plan to extend its life. The top of my head is not sensitive at all, whereas the back and side are a little. So what I do is I use a brand new blade to do the side and back, and a older blade to do the top. And I'll get a new blade every 7 days now, so I've pretty much doubled my blade usage.

Interesting idea Aussie.  I might have to give that a try.  The top and front of my head doesn't seem to be sensitive as well so this could work.

I have razor bumps to no biggie not as bad years ago just have a clean blade and shave in one direction to minimize irritation. Order some bump defense or bump patrol to help witn your bumps skin tight or tend skin maybe,  also make sure your skin is clean not to spread around germs or bacteria.
