Two years ago, on this very day (Dec 29, 2011), I stood in front of my bathroom mirror with a running pair of clippers in my left hand while I nervously wondered what I was getting myself into.
I must have stood like that for a good 5 minutes.
I was going to start from the sides just above the ear, but that would give me a chance to quit.
So, I took a deep breath and my first "swipe" was right down the middle! There was no going back now!
And, in the two years since, there STILL has been no going back.
The only regret (that you hear a LOT on this forum from almost everyone) is why I hadn't done it earlier.
I'm not always shaved completely smooth, but I tend to bounce between that and an Andis 000000 (.1mm) blade, which looks pretty much the same, anyway.
I thought I looked a little weird in the mirror at first (so different than what I had been used to for my entire life), but now, two years later I think I would look weird if I let it grow back!

So, for those on the fence who are intrigued but a bit "frightened"...just go for it. If you're worried about the comments from friends/family/coworkers...yes, you'll likely get them initially. But, that only lasts a little while (people have their own problems and believe it or not, you are NOT the center of the universe).
Full disclosure, my current boss (who has become a good friend) DOES occasionally refer to me as "Fester" (ala Uncle Fester from the Addams Family)

, but he does it in good humor and if I told him it bothered me (it doesn't), he would stop. (I'd prefer Walter White, in all honesty...but....what can ya do)
On the upside...no more hair spray/gel/etc...no shampoo...or if you were losing your hair, no more worries about windy days, strong lighting or swimming pools. No more bad hair days period. You will be CONSISTENT.
You can sleep later, spend less time preening... Wearing hats won't destroy your look for the day.
There really isn't a downside. Actually, trying different looks/styles is easier without hair...you'll find you can pull a lot more varied looks off.
So, I'm looking forward to my 3rd anniversary and beyond and I highly recommend those who are debating....stop debating and grab those clippers/razors!
And continue logging in to sly bald guys....it really does help!
