Christmas Question
« on: December 14, 2013, 04:28:12 PM »
For the ones who celebrate Christmas:

Angel or Star?---or something else?

What do you put on top of your tree.  I have always thought it was funny how some families were "angel families" and some were "star families".

If you don't have a tree these days, then what did you traditionally have on top before?

Also, if you were from an "angel family" and your significant other is from a "star family" was there a conflict initially over  this detail?

My wife and I were both from Star families, so it was an easy choice for us.

We have a big star. The other night the whole house was wakened when it came crashing down to the floor.

I'm expecting my cats to pull down the tree at any time!

I currently have a star but I've had angels in the past.

I grew up with angels, but it has transitioned to something in keeping with the theme of the decorations which vary from year to year.

My family is normally an Angel type but I'm not a fan. When I made a Christmas tree out of lights last year, I had a star on top

One tree has an angel, another a star, and the 3rd a bow.

I grew up with a star on the tree. When I got married my wife wanted a angel or a bow, so that's what we had. Then my son got big enough to talk and he wanted a star so we've had one ever since.

Not a deal breaker for us.  We had a star with lights.  When the lights quit working, it got replaced with an angel.  No big decision, it is just what we found.

As a kid, all I remember is a star.

I grew up with our "real" tree having a star.  First it was this silk white star then my Mom moved into the 1960's with a lighted aluminum star on a real tree.  Myself, I have a lighted angel.  Dang ... I miss those bubble lights on a real tree  ... okey so I had hair back then as a kid ... sat on the living room couch and watched those Noma brand bubble lights as if Lawrence Welk was playing Champagne music ... ohhh ... yes ... Christmas still has magic if you believe !

We had a gold spire made of glass much like a shiny globe ornament.

When my wife an I got our first tree, she insisted the topper be an angel - like her family always had. We got one, but he is an abstract design and looks to be made of stained glass.

Currently we have a very old school looking red star but we have had angels in the past. Seems we switch it up every few years.
