HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my SBG brothers & sisters. . .
« on: November 27, 2013, 08:33:44 AM »
Hi fellow chrome domes:  I just wanted to wish all the fine people at SBGs a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.  I thank you all for making this a great site and I am very proud to be a part of this special fraternity.

On a side note... kindly tell us if you will be staying local or going out of town and a brief summary of what you will be doing on Thanksgiving Day.

I'll start:  This will be our very 1st time ever that we will not be cooking.  We usually have a great feast at our house or another family member's house.  However. . . this will be the very 1st time we will be having Thanksgiving Day dinner at a local restaurant.

So. . . how 'bout you?  What will you be doing?  Staying local?  Going out of town?  Cooking?  At a restaurant?  What's your story?

For the first time since 2007, I am actually OFF on Thanksgiving! I will be house hopping and plate grabbing. My goal is to be back at my house in time for the Thursday Night game between the Ravens and Steelers.

We have about twenty people coming to our house in CT. There is a pretty big road race in our town (Manchester Road Race) and my house is on the route. Elite runners come from all over the world and run along ordinary people who often dress in crazy costumes. We have a lot of people who come over in the morning to watch.

That being said, I'd rather be in New York with the rest of my family watching the Macy's Parade!

I'm having dinner at the home of some family friends.   Happy Thanksgiving to you all.   :)

We will be standing along 42nd street at 7:00 am to watch the Macy's parade (wind chill will be 15 degrees), then we will head down to the 911 memorial, then dinner at some place called Gossip in Hell's Kitchen, then the Empire State Building in the evening. It is going to be a long day.

We did the family gathering last Sunday at our house. My youngest says she now will forever have a Thanksgiving memory to tell her grandchildren and/or therapist of walking into the kitchen at 6:00 am and seeing her father standing at the counter in his underwear prepping the turkey.

I do not travel on Thanksgiving weekend. Just too much traffic.  Thankful to stay home with friends.

Here's the day plans:

Visit with SBG friends early in the morning.

No shopping today, except for a bag of Pigmy Rhino Hit Squad Dark coffee beans (we ran out). Favorite blend from the local coffee shop.

Baking whole wheat bread.  www.tammysrecipies.com/homemade_wheat_bread

Lunch at a 'soup kitchen', then serving lunch at the soup kitchen and helping with clean-up.

Yard and table games and conversation with friends for the afternoon and evening. Finger foods and desserts.

Friday morning. Visit to the massage therapist!

I had to sub white flour for the whole wheat. Thought we had wheat berries to grind. Could not find them.

But looking forward to the day.
