Well said, Slymyke.....As we have had our fair share of hurricanes in the Southeastern U.S. I know what it's like to be in a path of total devastation. I certainly pray that damage is kept to a minimum, and no more lives are lost....God's speed to all of them!

Thanks. Before the Category 5 Typhoon, we were struck by a Magnitude 7 earthquake. I have experienced both but still blessed to be at a safe distance. I have visited the areas and it is really heartbreaking. I never thought I could shed that much tears.I am even teary eyed as I am typing this.
Thank you for all the support, from fellow Filipinos and the massive international assistance.
As we say here...The Filipino Spirit is Waterproof, Shatterproof. We shall overcome.

Kalbo and the rest of our brothers over in the South Pacific, my prayers are with you! Having a Filipino wife, I'm constantly updated on what's going on and I have to say that I'm amazed at the strength of the people who have dealt with this storm.

Hi Kalbo: I hope all is well with you and your family. As a very proud Filipino-American. . . my prayers and thoughts go out to you and The Beautiful Philippines. My immediate family and most of my family members reside in the USA but I still have several family members: aunties, uncles, and cousins that still live in the Philippines. I am happy to report that all is well and safe with them.

The organization that I work for, while not a relief agency, does have an aviation department which provides air support for our people in remote parts of the world. One of our helicopter pilots is heading to the Philippines to help with coordinating flights in a chopper provided by another organization. The chopper is being flown over in a 747 this week.
It's pretty cool to see how they do that. The partially disassemble the chopper (take the blades off), open the nose cone of the 747, and slid in the chopper. Looks like the 747 is eating the chopper with a grin on it's face!
