A little old lady went to see her doctor one day.
"Doctor," she said, "the most unusual thing has been happening. For years I have been very careful about expelling gas in public, but a few weeks ago, one slipped out at my bridge club. I thought I would die from embarrassment, but then I realized it had made no noise and there was no odor. Since then, I have been letting them out whenever I feel the urge, and still they don't make any noise and they do not smell. In fact, I have done it three times since I have been telling you this, and you never even noticed. What do you make of it?"
The doctor thought for a moment, then wrote something out on a prescription pad.
"I think I may know what might be going on," the doctor said. "Take one of these pills twice a day for the next week, then come and see me again."
At the end of the week, the little old lady returned to the doctor.
"Doctor," she cried, "what was in those pills? Now, whenever I let one out, there still is no sound, but the stench is horrible!"
"Good," the doctor said with a smile. "We got the sinuses cleared up. Now let's see what we can do about your hearing."
