What do you do with your front yard for Halloween?
In the neighborhood next to mine, there used to be a wealthy man that would rent elaborate decorations for his whole front yard. Each year, they were completely different and got more intense. The final year he did it, you would think you were at Universal Studios (seriously). He spent thousands! It was better than most professional displays of horror.
It was definitely in stark contrast to our little Fall wreath on the front door!
How about you?

Green light shining on a big tree as a backdrop. Purple lights hanging like spider webs from a tree closer to the road. Spooky flashing eyes in the bushes. And a ghost peeking from between the houses.

Since we're way out here in the sticks, normally we just carve pumpkins for the porch. When we plan a big Halloween bonfire, we'll pull out the tombstones, zombie mannequins, fake snakes, all that good stuff.
A couple years back, my brother made a table out of scrap wood with a big hole in the middle, got one of those Elizabethan collars (the dog cones) and spray painted it, then stuck it on and filled it with candy. The way he had his face/dome painted, no one knew it was him so when they'd reach in, he would scream. It was pretty awesome, almost tempted to try it next year

My kids strung purple lights back and forth between the trees and layered cobwebbing all over them. Pretty cool effect.
There are the orange lights in the flower beds, eye lights in the box woods, amber lights all over the porch, and three ghosts hanging from the branch over the driveway.
The first year we were married, my wife and I sat on the front porch giving out candy while eating pizza and drinking wine with several jack-o-lanterns around us and citronella tiki torches burning in the yard. Talk about hot.

Here in Minnesota, we make snowmen and ice skate in the streets.
Just kidding, but it is cold today!
Testing the candy right now, it's edible.

We live on a mountain on a very tiny cul-de-sac. My nearest neighbor is about 300 feet away. Kids don't come up here so no outside decorations.
In 11 years we have not had a single trick-or-treater.

Turn off the exterior lights ... Close the curtains !! Since there are no kids in the immediate neighborhood, I don't feel to bad about it.

This is the first time we haven't done any halloween decor. Kids are 13 and 15, so they have pretty much outgrown trick or treating. But, the Lovely Mrs. Schro and I still plan on bundling up, sitting in the driveway, and passing out candy to the trick or treaters.

My daughter is fifteen and still goes Trick or Treating, but this year she has forbidden me to go anywhere near her. So I am home waiting for the doorbell to ring. On a happy note, some very nice trick or treaters just came to my door and gave ME a beer (actually the parents, not the kids!)
