Movember foolishness

I've been excited all year for Movember at work, but unfortunately they require us to shave so we can start from scratch on 11/1. I don't want to waste all the hard work I've put in so it looks like I'll be doing it on my own. I am pretty upset that I can't participate at work, but I am not wasting my hard work.

Dunno if it'll make you feel better but it's a standard requirement of Movember, not just what your work is saying, Because of the sponsoring it's about starting as a blank canvas and seeing what you can come up with, often in fun competition with others in the name of the event.

It is a bummer for the beardies tho!

Wow.. I would have to at least be able to keep a goatee.  I can't have a totally smooth face.. I wouldn't recognize myself!!

I had an ad  in my email from "The Art of Shaving" to come in for mustache trims, and they will donate the proceeds to raise funds and awareness to help combat prostate and testicular cancer.  I am all far the donation, but I thought the point was to not trim for the month?  And I never knew about starting from zero on Nov 1.

Oh, well, had the moustache for almost 40 years. It's not coming off now.  

Had the bald head for almost 2 years, it's not coming ON now.

Well, when you stop and think about it, it does kind of defeat the purpose if everyone isn't starting off at the same point.  I've never actually met anyone who actually participated in this.

I tried it for about three months once and just could not get used to it.

You know, there are people out there (or so I am told) that would think it quite odd that a group of men who have no problem shaving their heads can't bring themselves to shave their faces.  Just sayin'.

It is big in Australia where it all started about 10 years ago.  Even at the gym today on 1 November two of the female instructors had huge fake moustaches encouraging their male counterparts to get involved.

As someone who has had prostate cancer and a heart attack I am all for men taking their health seriously and talking about it - not to mention the funds raised for research.

Despite all that I am not about to shave off my beard of 47+ years just to take part!!
