New Beard
« on: July 12, 2007, 03:37:04 PM »
Not sure if this is the right place to post but I'm sure you guys will forgive me if it isn't  ;).

I've been shaving my head for about ten years now and up until three years ago I had a beard. When I had to go look for a new job I shaved it down to a goat-tee and then just shaved it clean. Since I got a job and have been there for the past three years I decided to let my beard grow back. What I'm asking you guys is where would you stop shaving? When I had a beard I stopped about half way down my ears. I don't want a goatee. Just wondering what you guys' opinion is on this?

look at the current avatar of a guy called Vash.  He has a nice looking beard; he shaves down to around the mid-bottom of the ear .  that's what I'd recommend; sort of a long "van Dyck"  .

I think it looks ok if you stop shaving just below where your sunglasses would cross your ears.

Yeah, what Tyler said. Just below the top of your ears.

I've never been able to grow a beard.. Tried and tried.. so if it's trimmed down should look good

for me I've almost always had a full goaty. as you can see in my avatar this summer I've gone with haft

I think it looks good.

Danyroo, the new avatar looks great and along with the half goat.

I have the same problem with the beard, except that mine also makes it hard for the goat to even look very good.
I've tried many times and always endup just shaving it back of off.   For now I've got the patch goin under my lower lip and I've kept it longer than I ever made it with the goat or the beard.

Danyroo, meant to tell you a while ago...the bottom goat and slick head look real good bro!

I think if you were to do the soul patch only, that would work just as good, the best of both worlds with "Mr. Cleaned" with a bit of facial hair! O0

I personally stop my beard toward the top of my ear and I like to use my clippers and fade from the bottom of my ear to the top so it is a gradual transition from bald to beard.

Hey guys. Thanks for all your input. I have a ways to go before I really have to make a decision but all of your suggestions are great ones.  I think I'll end up with it just below where my glasses are and do the fade down. Thanks again.
