Let me have it...
« on: October 11, 2013, 02:09:21 PM »
Be brutally honest...keep shaving it or let it grow back out?

I got bumps and crevasses, pock marks, odd shape, etc...I want to know if it looks ok being completely shaved.  And don't blow sunshine up my backside either.  If it's alright, let me know.  If it's a definite no, let me know...

I appreciate any feedback.  It's pretty new to have a shaved head, so I'm just wondering if I should keep it.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

If you've followed my posts on these forums, you'll know that I'd be the last person to blow smoke.

Brutal honesty: try smiling. It'll help a lot.

Also, you are a perfect example of someone who has a perfectly normally shaped head that somehow feels it's "oddly shaped". And everyone has bumps and crevices.

It looks fine. Keep it.

Much like bear,I'm also not one to blow smoke....

Your head looks fine and your description of it makes it sound much like mine. Not perfect but it's all mine!!!

Welcome, Matt! Seriously, you wear it well.....Just a suggestion...if you can grow a goatee, facial hair goes well with a bald head. But seriously, you look like a natural!

Why do you feel you need to grow it back?

Looks like every other shaved head.  I can see no imperfections in your photos.  None are completely free of bumps, ridges, etc.  That's just the way heads are.

It looks good.  I do not know what your hair looked like, so I do not have a comparison.  But if you have MPB, it looks better shaved.

Matt - it looks good. Your head looks like the perfect shape to me. I've got the bumps, indentations, and imperfections too. We're our own worst critics. But I know no one else is looking at me as close and critically as I am. And no one is going to be examining your head either.  Keep it. It suits you!

OK, I have to be brutally honest.  I won't skirt the issues like the others here:

1. That sunburn tells us you haven't been wearing your sunscreen.  You need to wear at least SPF 15 or that great looking bald head will get sun damage and possibly skin cancer.

2. I'm afraid I must agree that you will have to keep the smile.  It really increases your face value, which is already enhanced by the bald head you have.

3. You'll need to throw away the mirror that you use.  It is clearly defective if it shows you lumps and creases that are not apparent to others.  It obviously has a problem with your newly shaved head, and you don't need negative in your life from an inanimate object.

I am sorry if this is difficult to hear, but it needed to be said.  :D

The head looks great. And I cant see anything wrong with your dome. Sunblock would help. And as a newly bald guy, smile. I have a straight face on in my profile pic, and it looks like I am sad or mad. I had a very serious face on, and it looked like i was ready to kill someone.

Welcome to the club Matt.  You look good bald, but better with a smile!  :)

PS. - I'd guess that most of us are pretty self critical about our head shape, at least at first.  I've got a couple of dents in the side of my skull (a trophy from a difficult birth), and it turns out that the only person who takes much notice of them is me.

Matt, before reading the other guys posts, my first reaction was, "This guy needs to smile".

Then you fixed that.  Yep. The smile makes a lot of difference.

The bald head looks satisfying.  It's a keeping.

Your comments were mostly about 'looks'.  How about touch?  How does it feel? Do you like the smooth dome after a shave?  How about the scent of some Pinaud Clubman on your head or other cologne or aftershave.  I think those are important factors too that make shaving a head bald, very satisfying.

If you need a vote, it's a keeper.

You like like a average guy with a shaved head, why the doubt? As above, smile, pretty soon you won't even think about it

Matt,

Like the gentlemen before me have said, we all see imperfections in ourselve that others do not even notice. You look fine.
