Can't shave! Alternate options?!
«

Hey guys and gals,
So I find myself in a situation where I can not shave for probably 2 months due to a wart treatment >.<
I love my bald head and usually shave everyday. (shower shaver by touch, mach 3, shave secret)
Any ideas how to deal with not being able to shave? I've read Veet is not made for scalps and could hurt/irritate.
Not looking forward to see my hair grow in (or not grow in on top!)
Thanks, John
On a side note, it would be awesome to have an emoticon that is bald on top =]

The only chemical option I know of for the head is one called Magic Shave. They have one for the face and one for the head, so make sure you get the correct one (although I suspect they are the same, it's just the marketing and labels that are different). However, if you are having treatments for warts, I would have serious concerns about using any chemical hair remover on my head.
Yoy may have to just deal with clipper shaving for the two months. Possibly you can razor shave around the treatment area and use clippers on the treated area.

John, I have been in a similar situation as you. Back in the late part of 2011/early 2012, I had surgeries on different parts of my scalp due to reoccuring boils and a skin infection to boot. Granted each time I could not razor shave for about three or four weeks on each occasion due to the stitiches, may I suggest investing in a set of Andis clippers? They cut very close and give the appearance of a close razor shave, though you will have some slight stubble. It certainly beats the alternative of letting your hair grow out. There are other brands of clippers that give a nice balding appearance, but either way, two months will pass real fast and you can go back to your normal razor shaving when you heal. Good luck and take care~

Thanks guys. I think I'll try the cream first, and purchase some clipper if that doesn't work. I appreciate it!!

It's your head, but I would check with a Dr. before using such a cream , where being treated for warts.

You could also try an electric razor versus clippers. This way you get closer to the skin. You should be able to avoid the wart area.

I am in full agreement with Slybeard and Magoo. Applying a depilatory to skin that already is going to be sensitive and irritated or wounded by the wart removal does not seem to be a prudent act.
I think Tyler's and Sir Harry's suggestion of the clippers is going to be the better option.

A decent electric razor can get you by and give an almost blade feel. I use one in a pinch if I need to.
I am with those sounding caution about applying a cream or depilatory on your head when being treated for a skin condition. If they are common warts it does irritate the skin when applied (unless they are doing the freeze method). Or, if you really want to go that route, consult with your doctor(s) first and let them advise you on the safest option.
Clippers are also a wonderful suggestion and I would recommend them as well. My Oster with #00000 shaves close enough to where it feels like maybe 1-1/2 to 2 days growth (which now makes me cringe and reach for the blade...I feel your pain!).
Good luck - and let us know how you're doing!

First off let me say, thats very unfornunate but liveable. Can you buzz it short?, or, is that not an option either? Yea theres not alot of options other than a razor or electric razor to achieve the bald look. I have tried nair before with very bad results. I burnt my head pretty good in patches and what made it worse was i couldnt shave either because of the burnt patches on my head. Bad bad bad decision! anyways just wanted to give you some support untill your Sly days are upon you once more. Hang in there my friend 2 months is not that long.
