razor bumps all in the back of my scalp
« on: October 05, 2013, 07:44:04 PM »
Guys I bumped up bad in the back of my head. It looks like a nearly crunch bar. I used bump patrol but it seems to not be working like it used to. What else could I use to heal them?

I have had to resort to straight rubbing alcohol to dry out ingrown hairs on the back of my neck. Twice a day with a cotton ball dried them up within a week.

Use aspirin, get the white capsule-less ones. I use to get razor bump on the back of my neck too sh*t use to hurt like hell when the hair started to grow back lol.

I use 3 aspirin tablets every night until the bumps are gone.

long story short, I shaved my head 2 weeks ago, I've had these red crater like bumps on my scalp for about 8 days now, and this isn't the first time either. About 5 months ago I had the same issue, I figured it was because my scalp is oily so I started using Neutrogena when I wake up and before I go to bed, I also used some Nystatin and Triamcin acetonide cream, it really helped clear it up in a few days. Now, the I have the same issue, still using the Neutrogena day and night, and once I had these things again I started using the cream, but it's not helping at all, I'm not sure what to do! I am new here, and glad I found this place, I posted a picture below, I hope somebody knows what I can do to clear this up! Keep in mind I do not have insurance, so going to see a dermatologist is kind of expensive.

Thank you in advance!!

Could it be that your not drying it properly ? Then applying a moisturiser , my suggestion is leave it to dry properly before applying a moisturiser and not so sure about Nystatin , you could build up a immunity ? Unless your in a very humid part of the world ?

I dry my head before applying anything, and maybe you are right on building up a immunity to the cream... Before I shave I run hot water and I then use the Neutrogena to wash my scalp, then wash it off with the hot water on my scalp before shaving, I use shaving gel, after I'm done shaving I take a shower, I think I'm just going to suck it up and go to the Dr., I can not live like this much longer, I don't wear hats therefore I don't have a hat to wear for the time being, my wife who likes to bust my chops said she didn't want to make me go to a family function this weekend because of my head, which I think is a good idea since this is her extended family and the last thing I want is to show up for the first time with this going on all over my scalp!

Talk to the doc , i know it costs money .sounds almost like a dermatitus i would ask him . Nystatin is a fungicidal prep , expensive . But if your putting topical asprin on it will irritate the ski as it irritates gut mucosa

I definitely think you should see your doc.  You might also try shaving after your shower.  It might be less irritating.

To the OP (Lo) and to Flip36 (welcome, Flip). Try rubbing your head with an ice cube for several minutes. Cold water and/or ice helps pores to close faster preventing oil and dirt from entering causing the bumps. Also, aloe vera and Cortisone 10 cream may help accelerate the healing of your current bumping situations. Is it possible for you to shave every second or third day? I'm not an everyday shaver either, but thanks to shaving soap and some great advice on DE razors, I can shave every third day and still get a long lasting bald appearance. Either of you gentlemen can PM me if you have any questions. Good luck!

Try something like Tend Skin or some other BHA (beta hydroxy acid) toner after you shave. That should take care of the bumps. Also, try exfoliating your dome before you shave (I usually use a wash cloth with some face wash, pretty easy & no additional product to buy!)

i won't be able to be seen by a Dr. until Thursday, but the pharmicsit by me says it looks a lot like ring worm! I would need a Dr. to prescribe an anti fungal medication, i hope that's what it is to be honest, i just want to know what the hell is going on because it has gotten worse, check out the pic below!  :-\

the res on that pic doesn't show just how red these are, keep that in mind.
