Time to see a doctor?
« on: September 24, 2013, 10:33:08 AM »
So at first I thought this was an ingrown hair, but it doesn't quite feel like it. Doesn't look red and like a pimple like normal ingrowns. It's a little tender. Should I be worried? I only work indoors at a desk and don't spend any time outside aside from daily tasks.

I would try some cortisone on it first...If that doesn't work, a dermatologist might be a better option. I had something similar in three different spots on the back of my head, and it turned out to be an infection. Whatever you do, don't pick at it with your bare hand, it will only make the condition worse.

Looks like a ingrown hair. If it does not clear up in a week or 2 have a Dr. check it out. In any case don't worry about it. It's small and can easily be removed

Nix on the cortisone.  It is a papule-mild local infection.  Keep it clean. Put Polysporin on it. It will eventually clear up. When cleaning your scalp, spend a little extra time in that area with a loofah or gentle scrubbing pad. If it gets worse, then see the Doc.

Oh, and warm compresses for about ten minutes several times a day.  I almost forgot that... :o

I don't think it's a problem, but if it doesn't go away then go see your doctor. That isn't an ingrown hair. It just looks infected, just keep it clean and if it gets worse then see your gp.
