Considering a #0 Buzz - Questions...
« on: July 09, 2007, 11:34:32 AM »
Ok, as many here know, I am planning on wet shaving my head for the first time on July 20th.  Over the past few months I have worked the length down to a short #1 on my trimmer.  I am considering going to a #0 in the mean-time but am curious of what the length difference will be between a #1 (3mm) that I currently have and a #0.  Never had a #0, so I am hoping someone here can speak from experience.

I think with a 0 you'll be close to 1mm or 1.5mm.  It's really not much difference from a 1 when you see yourself in pics or far away.  It's only when you get up really close that you can see that the hair is shorter.  I'd try it out as it will only take you about 1 to 2 days to get back to a #1 look.

Ever see Prision Break?

The one dude Dominic Purcell, has a 0 buzz most of the time...the difference is it will be stubble and feel rougher, it's actually a pretty cool feeling and the length is only 3-4 days longer than a razor shave on your head...I say go for it, both for your acceptance and everyone elses...

but be warned, once you do it, you may find yourself saying, "What the "f", I should just finish it off and shave it to the skin"!...been there bro, you may end up doing that! ;)...

Good luck, have fun with it...and see you on the bald (sly) side brutha! O0

Dude you will dig having a shaved head once you get there, it'll look cool on you!

Hey X, I'll warn you ... I planed going with an 0 buzz.  Went to the barbershop, had it done, went home and said WTF.  I hoped in the shower and shaved it slick.

I decided to give my head a break and let it grow over the weekend...I'll NEVER  :Xo! do that again, 1) I didn't feel comfortable, and it was the first time I wore a hat in a couple of months, 2) the shave didn't go as smooth as normally this morning, although after the ice cube deal, I felt back to normal O0

Anyway X...shave it bro, stop playing around with the clippers. All you are going to do is pick yourslef apart and think it won't look good so you are delaying the next step...just go for it and give it the month to grow on you(no pun intended!)

Likewise.  I didn't see much point in keeping the stubble. ;)

Actually, sometimes skipping a day results in a closer shave the next time.  The razor can grab the hair a little more easily.

Usually I do my house and yard chores on a Saturday and don't shower or shave until late in the day.  I always feel much cleaner after I'm shaved smooth again.  But if it's too late in the day, then I'm not ready for another shave on Sunday morning.  That means that I have to skip the Sunday shave (if I'm not going anywhere important), because I need to get back in synch for Monday morning.  Because if I were to shave on Sunday afternoon, and again on Monday morning, the Monday morning shave would be a lousy one.  I need at least 24 hours growth to get a close, smooth shave. (Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode about this once?)

On days when I do skip, it's not too bad in the morning, but by afternoon I feel like I'm sporting a full beard and a horseshoe.  Top of my head is usually still smooth and won't start to feel sandpapery until bedtime.   Once I get that "full beard" feeling, I don't feel clean again until I shaved the dome and my face (around the goat, of course).

Skipping a day makes being smooth again all the sweeter and reminds you how great it is to be sly.
