having a hard time
« on: September 11, 2013, 08:28:24 AM »
Hey guys!
I haven't been around for a while and there's a reason for that; I STILL can't get used to a shaved head! I have shaved off and on for 3 to 4 years now, but I still think I look like an alien! :XX I don't like a buzz cut (on me), I CAN NOT grow it out (that looks worse) and I'm tired of wearing a hat all the time. I check in on this site everyday, and I have serious shaved head envy! You guys look awesome and confident. Any words of wisdom and encouragement would be welcomed! Thanks for listening!

OK, so the only thing missing is your confidence, because you look awesome. So I guess what you have is really "confidence envy".

Really. Not pulling any punches here. You look just as great as anyone else here.

Hi Fencer,
I can't see anything wrong with your look, actually, you have a great looking dome. Sly guys are getting to be so common around here, that this is a perfect time to rock the bald look.
Bald by choice, and loving it!

I have to agree with the other replies. That you think you look like an alien is all in your head.  ;D Seriously, the look works for you, wear it proudly.

Fencer, you look awesome and confident, just like the other guys on this site.  I went through that stage as well where I would see sly guys on this site and in public and have sly envy.  I never thought I could pull it off, and would settle for a short buzz (#1 or 2).  You just need to stick with it and not be so critical of yourself.

I am not a frequent hat wearer (the one in my avatar was just for the photo).  Once I went sly, I did not want to cover my head, I wanted to show it off.  I even gained the confidence to wear a full beard, which I have never done.

Seriously, Fencer.

You've got one of the best shaped domes I've seen here.

There's nothing wrong with your head. 3 or 4 years is a long time not to be used to something, so I wonder if there is something more to it that is concerning you.

You have said you can;t grow you're hair back - I assume it's receeding? The buzzcut and bald are pretty much the same and if you think of all the new people you've met in the last 3ish years, they probably just see you as a shaved head guy.

You head is a good shape so there's nothing to worry about. Sometimes I'd love hair but it's not gonna happen so now I just say this is me and basically just try and look the best I can

Fencer, I think you have the prototype shaved head/goatee combo! You look like a construction worker, and sly suits you well if that is indeed your profession. I admit on occasion that I see heads that I think look better than mine, but at the end of the day and sit back and appreciate my own head for it's uniqueness. It's okay to have lapses, they happen, but when you shave after a lapse, it makes you appreciate sly even more. Hang in there buddy, we're here for encouragement. Good luck!

Fencer,

I hope you'll take this advice to heart:

You have an incredible head shape for the sly look !!!

You look sharp with the smooth dome. I sometimes think I look like a Kanamut from the Twilight Zone, but you definitely don't.

I'm 18 and have a buzzed head. I've had people tell me my head is big, shaped like a penis, that I look like an alien..etc. etc. So I'm young and losing hair, and many people think I have a weird shaped head. You probably are worried what people think of you, and I'm still trying to give zero f***s about what people think of me. I assume I have many years to go in life, unless something tragic happens. But what I'm worried about most is approaching ladies while having not a lot of hair. Girls can pick up on lack of confidence/nervousness/worry SO SO easy, and it turns them off. But to be honest, I probably have more confidence with a buzz cut and a weird shaped head than the mop of messy thick hair I used to have, and the mop started to have curls jut out in random places. Soooo yeah I'd like to be good at practicing what I preach online, but enjoy life for what it is and listen to these guys on here who are enjoying life and not letting worry over something superficial as having no hair bother them. And besides, there's always someone that has it worse. Most of the guys on here can grow beards and still have their eyebrows, some people have Alopecia Totalis which causes them to lose every hair on their body. I just hope I don't get that bad, and if I do, I hope I build extreme confidence and self-esteem.
