Just buzzed my head
« on: September 10, 2013, 08:35:53 AM »
I randomly did it today... Started on 1, then half and then just without a guard lol
I think I still need to go over it fuller because it's probably not all even but I might just razor it all anyway
Plus, I need to hit the tanning booth ha

When shaving your head, this might sound dumb but does it completely take your hair off or does it leave very very minute hairs? Does it matter if you go against the grain or with it?

Here's some pics anyway

Shaving cuts the hair as colse to the skin as the blade can get.  So you still have the hair, just extremely short.  Most people find they can get closer shaving against the grain, but to some it is irritating to the skin and they only shave with the grain.  You may want to try with the grain for your fisrt shave to see how your skin reacts to the blade.

Looks good! Just take it easy if/when you apply the razor.

Lookin' good!

Yes, shaving will get you as close to skin as you can get. I agree that you should probably try with the grain first, then graduate to against.

Hot water and a sharp razor are musts. An ice cube is a great idea (rub over the freshly shaved scalp). Patience and a smooth, easy stroke are also musts. Having fun and enjoying it is a must, too!!

Let us know if you "go all the way" - I suspect you'll really like it!

Buzz is a good place to start Calum.  Keep going from there.

Your question isn't dumb at all.  Shaving your head is like shaving your face: the hair is removed to the skin, but continues to grow.  Right after shaving, your head will feel smooth, as if the hair is gone.  A few hours later, you will feel the stubble.

Shaving against the grain gives the closest, smoothest shave, but can be irritating to the skin at first until the scalp toughens up from being shaved.

Good luck!
