So today I managed to take a chunk of skin off shaving...

Yep, stupidly, I was pretty much done with my shave, went over my head one last time with my Mach 3, and managed to take a chunk of skin off my head. Would not stop bleeding so I went to work with a band aid/plaster on my head! It's stopped now, but I hope it heals quick! Looks like it's back to the rotary shaver until it does!

I did it a few weeks ago, again like you I had done the shave so I guess I stopped concentrating. This is a pic the day after!

I think most of us can say we have done that to ourselves.
Just shave around that area for a few days.

Yup. Been there. For me, it's usually just over my right ear. I think I've sliced that area off 3 or 4 times.

Did that myself this morning - and as I've just switched to using a DE Safety Razor I can certainly say OUCH! Those damn things are SHARP! However, following the advice on here I'd already bought a styptic pencil - and it stopped the bleeding pretty much straight away. Definitely worth getting hold of one.

Don't let it get you down....It happens even to those of us that have been shaving for years....In my case it's happened at random places all over my head, but a styptic pencil does the trick as mentioned earlier.

Just did it yesterday, I had a trapped hair and forgot, and just shaved it right off!

Welcome to the club. We should really come up with a name for this group. It would have to do with the fact that we, who have bled in the cause of sly, are fully committed (or should be)to said cause.
I would propose "The Wounded Dome Society".
A few years ago while I was still shaving with the HB I took a chunk right off the very top of my dome that I had to extricate from my blades with a toothpick. I still have a white spot at that location.

I will second that name...been there done that a few times over the years.
I think the worst slice I ever got was back when I had the Headblade with the Schick Ultrx cartridges.

Oh, and don't feel stupid about this incident. No cause for shame.
Sometimes it's just a case of finding a different implement to get the job done. I have totally abandoned the HB in favor of my Personna M5 Magnum. Much friendlier shaving system for me.

Tom Lehrer once said "I suffered for my art. Now it's your turn."
Well, it's sure an eye-opener more than a cup of Joe and some Jolt 2x while having caffeine intravenously injected... and putting some after shave on it will be sure to let you know it's there. Ouch!
May all our shaves be without nicks and cuts!
