I think that going back to having hair cut short or shaved is a great solution to getting rid of head lice.
I remember when I was at school some 40-odd years ago, there was an outbreak of head-lice at my primary school. All the parents were given lice-combs and asked to get a medical shampoo from the doctor. My parents managed to help prevent me getting head lice by having my hair cut quite short & treating me with the special medicated shampoo. Think most of the boys in my year all had our hair cut short. One lad, who already had fairly short hair ended up having his hair shaved to a #0. He really suited it & kept it for about 6 months. I don't recall there being anymore problems with head-lice amongst the boys of my year.
So going back to the old treatments might not be such a bad idea.
