Cat out of the bag
« on: August 26, 2013, 02:39:43 AM »
I think my last post re my alopecia was that I was shaving with a new electric joby as I'm due to see the specialist about the

redness and that a full blade shave would be a bit stupid i.e. might aggravate things. Well, I've been shaving the WHOLE scalp

with a blade for a week or two now (couldn't wait) and it's reduced the redness substantially.

I think what may of been happening is that the electric shaver - needing quite e few passes to make a difference - was

inflaming things even more.

I've been very careful with the razor and getting some sun etc. It feels fantastic.

I'll still keep my specialist appointment (which is tomorrow morning), as minor redness is prob not due to shaving, but I feel

I'm well and truly on my way.

Thanks everyone.

I've noticed a lot more irritation using an electric so I think it's rather common, at leasr until your scalp gets used to it. I only use the electric to whack a strip or two where evil fuzz was trying to break through the razor-sharp smoothness...  ;D

Good luck with your appointment, I hope everything works out for the best for you, 50plus.

Good luck with the specialist.

I think the additional redness is common with an electric. I had a Braun I used in my early days that was as gentle as could be on the noggin, but a Remington and a Norelco later on that were sheer razor burn misery. The blade does seem much kinder.
