Hat Prejudice

I have to admit that I have had hat prejudice.  What I mean is that often I have seen a guy with a hat on and have thought, "What is he hiding"?  Is he that unhappy being bald or shaving his head?  I had always thought that they should wear their baldness or slyness with pride.  Not hide it!  But now that I may be having a minor skin cancer removed from my head, I am feeling kind of bad about that.  Maybe some are hiding.  But now I am feeling that maybe it is better, at least outside, to have that hat or cap on!  Maybe they are not ashamed of their MPB or shaved head.  Maybe they are just trying to take care of it!  Anyone else have these kinds of feeling towards hat wearers?  I don't anymore!

Only if it's a guy that won't take his hat off when indoors.

Out of doors, I always wear a hat, so I don't think lesser of anyone else for doing it either.

I certainly can respect a guy protecting his bald noggin (I just got clearance from the doctor on Friday that my skin infection has cleared and I will be shaving again tonight after work). However, the two times I think a guy definitely better remove his hat, MPB or not, are: 1. at the dinner table and 2. during the national anthem.

Hats in the Winter to keep my head warm, do-rags in the Summer to keep my head safe.

Personal choice I think, though, agreed in a restaurant I take my hat off and in peoples houses, in the office etc.

Growing up, I really did not like wearing hats. When the hair started to fall out, I learned rather quickly (and the hard way) that a hat for a balding head is a necessity outdoors. I never thought about using a hat to try to hide a bald patch until I read the posts on this board.

I was raised to remove any hat I had on whenever I entered a building. Period. My sense of etiquette still makes it difficult for me to accept men wearing caps and hats indoors.

Early on when first head shaving I would some times cover up for lack of confidence. But after a short time didn't give a damn anymore and was hat free , except when out of doors.

I prefer not to wear a hat outside but after hearing about all the skin cancer stories, I need to reconsider. If I am out for a good deal of time, I always put a good amount of sunscreen on the dome. I like to get a little bit of sun but am pretty careful about it.

I always liked wearing hats, regardless of my MPB. To me, hats are T-Shirts for your head. I always like to sport the colors of my teams (A's, Raiders, Oregon State, or my son's baseball team) or the golf equipment I use. Also, like others have mentioned, protecting yourself from the sun is a big factor.

Yes, I've noticed guys that are bald or balding are often wearing hats. Maybe they're hiding something, or maybe they think like me and are protecting themselves from the sun (of course, that goes out the window when it's night or raining). Who knows.

Yeah, a lot of different factors go into my love of hats.  I played baseball my whole life and still do.  Even before going sly, I wore hats everywhere.  Even have a hat collection that goes back to my early teens.  Now that I have no hair, I think hats are essential in the summer.  A few summers ago I didn't wear hats during the summer to keep my head as tan as the rest of me but I burned pretty bad.  So that fact that we shave every day or every other day really points towards some sort of cover or a very good sunscreen.
Now if you see a guy wearing a baseball hat at a wedding, in formal wear or at the gym, they may be hiding something.
Fedoras are never a good idea, full head of hair or not... haha

Couldnt agree with this more, especially the part about the Fedoras. Man those things are for Mobsters and Frank Sinatra, nobody else should ever consider touching one.
