Dorco (Dollar shave club) razors?
« on: August 20, 2013, 03:07:07 PM »
Hey, I didn't see any threads about the Dorco site in particular, so I figured I'd start one. I love my Mach 3 Turbo but the cost of the cartridges is killing my wallet so I'm trying to find cheaper alternatives. Has anyone given this site a try http://www.dorcousa.com/ ? They are the manufacturer of the blades the Dollar Shave Club program uses (if you've heard of them). I'm thinking about trying them out but wanted to see if anyone has already.

Thanks!

I did see the warning about the old post, but instead of starting a new one I thought it would be important to still have "TheSlyBear"'s link as it is still relevant.

Ive been completly sly for the last 30 days.   And I too started out using the Mach 3 turbo, and then I tried the HeadBlade ATX.    But what I found seems to be working best for me is the executive 6 blade from Dollar Shave Club.

The Mach 3 turbo blades cost 17.99 for a pack of 5 at my local drug store.

Replacement blades for the ATX average between 10 to 14 bucks for a pack of 4.

Dollar Shave Club executive replacements are 9.99 a month for a pack of 4

With the Mach 3 it takes me about 10 minutes to shave, and the blades last about a week.  Which is about the norm from what I have read.
With the ATX (which I havent used very much) it was taking me close to 20 minutes to shave.  Im sure it would get better with practice, but just seems like the razor misses alot on the first pass, and you just keep going over the same spot over and over.
With the Executive blades my morning shave takes me about 10 minutes (same as with the Mach 3) and the blades last me a week, maybe longer if I want to push it.  Pretty much the same as with the Mach 3 at almost half the cost.

So for me, I like their blades.   Keep in mind they do have 2 other cheaper options.  On of which TheSlyBear did a full review on and you can read by clicking the link in his post.

Im also trying out their shave butter (comparing it with HeadSlick), and just ordered some of their post shave (currently using a aloe gel).

My suggestion if your thinking about trying dollar shave club is to try the executive.  If you like it but want to save some more money drop down to one of their other options.   Or if you dont like it.   Your only out 10 bucks.   Its really simple to cancel your monthly order on their site.

I thought I would share a discount code (A35P6X) I just used for 25% off at DORCO.  I'm a newbie took the plunge to sly on 1 Jan after about a year of adapting with a no guard clipper cut.

Thanks for all the info. on here it's been a huge help.
