Concern for a spot that won't heal.

I am writing from my iPad and can't post pic's, so if someone can help me post a pic I will email it to you,

I shave every other day, I have had a tender spot on the top of my head that I thought was a zit, but it won't scab over and go away. It's been a good two weeks, I cut it every time I shave and it scabs but won't go away completely, (having a hard time describing it.   Being in AZ naturally you an understand my fear of skin cancer.

On a separate note one of our favorite restaurants that we go to has a sly owner. Last week we went and saw that he had some major stitches in the top of his head looks like he had some major skin cancer removed and I'm pretty sure if he's  gonna have a really big scar. So please some  prayers for that person his name is TK

First, panic and being overly distraught is your worst enemy. Medical science has proved that there's a correlation between concern and making a situaltion worse. As was suggested, you must seek medical attention. Don't assume it's cancer or, for that, don't decide what it might be-that you shave it everyday probably doesn't help. Keep in mind that skin cancer/Melanoma is a frequently seen cancer and, caught early enough is easily cured. (Only in sun worshipping nations-Australia comes immediately to mind-has skin cancer taken on aspects of being an epidemic but, like Arizona, the locals cannot be kept indoors or, if they go out, don't bother with sun block a cap or avoiding the sun at peak times.) Don't see the problem of another as a barometer for your condition, all these things are singular and to decide, you've got what they had leads us back to being distraught and panicked. As negatively as this may sound, it's good advice. But the best is....seek medical attention, now if you want, Emergency Rooms are open 24/7. My first thought when I read your description of the spot was that it is just an ingrown hair. I still get one on the back of my neck at times, and it will not go away no matter how much I nick it until I get the hair/core out. Plain old rubbing alcohol applied two or three times a day usually dries it out to that point.

But, I am going to go with TheSlyBear's advice. It is better to have the doc tell you it is nothing than to ignore it and find out too late that it was something serious.

+1 for the doc. He or she will rule a problem in or out. I had a chunk the size of a quarter taken out of my forehead a few years ago and no problems since. Go to your regular doc and have this looked at. If they don't know what it is they can refer you to someone who will. They'll either chop it out (like mine) or they'll tell you to lay off the steel for a couple of weeks.

Thanks all, I saw a dermatologist for the first time a week after I went sly to have two moles removed, one dead center on the top of my head and one on the back, right.  He only works on Wednesday (he is partially retired) and I am hoping to see him this  Wed. I know the signs of skin cancer, my dad has had multiple minor skin cancers (not myeloma's).  I know the ABCD's Asymatry, Border {irregular border} Color (any color but black is concern) Diameter (anything larger than a pencil eraser in diameter is cause for concern).

If I can't see him I am going to try to find a new doc.

I'd say try a dab of cortisone, Cortaid is what I use.
