need advice!
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:57:42 AM »
seeing is how I'm cursed with the common native American affliction of not being able to grow any facial hair whatsoever, I feel like I'm kind of in need of some sort of diversion. I feel like with no hair on my face or year, I look too plain.

The question I'm about to pose may sound ridiculous, please don't troll me too hard. ;)

even though my vision is 20/20, I'm thinking about maybe getting a pair of fake glasses to sport around. based on my picture do you think I would look okay with a set of glasses? or does anyone have any other better suggestions? I do/did have a number of facial piercings, although its been some time since I've worn any of them, since I've grown out of that phase.

Not that I would recommend this for everyone, but how about a pair of stud earrings? Or even an earring in the left ear alone...That is if you don't have anything against piercings....

It's certainly not a strange thing to wear glasses with non prescription plain lenses, just go get some, no big deal.

A female friend of mine has several pairs depending on what outfit she wears or whether it is during the day or night or what look she wants.
My favorite is when she goes for the secretary/librarian look. She has told me straight out that is the look she wanted with that pair (they are bigger heavy black framed glasses) It was only recently that I found out she doesn't need to wear glasses, they are all non prescription lenses but all the glasses came from an optometrist

You can also get transition lenses that go dark when you are out in the sun and then clear when inside, they are awesome

Go for it and have fun!

I'm with trying the glasses.  Check some of them out and see how they look on ya.

ShyGuy, I would instead choose investing in a good pair of sunglasses than non-precription/fake glasses that won't do you any good.

This is just my personal opinion but I find it tacky when people who don't need eye glasses wear fake ones––it's common amongst 20/20 hipsters in my experience and there's no reason to do so!

From your pic, it looks like you're in a relatively sunny place––get some nice sunglasses like Ray Bans or Oakleys, something that you can wear on the top of your head.

You can go for the Jake Gyllenhal look from End of Watch, sporting your Oakleys on top of your head when not in direct sunglight:

Good eye protection from the sun is important and today's fashionable shades will do the trick.  "Eye" (pardon my bald pun) would not get fake clear lense glasses ... that would be like wanting fake facial hair.

Buy some puka shell chokers instead and accent your head.  Link below for ideas:

Thank you, Mikekoz. I thought I was the only one thinking that.

ShyGuy, you look fine as you are.  I don't think you need to accessorize.

I say do what you like.  If you would like jewelry or glasses, go for it.  If you like it, I love it.

Ok. I know there is no threatening on the forum but if any of you tell people this, ill put miracle grow on your head so you have a full head of hair in the morning... but on a serious note, i can not really grow facial hair either. let it grow and dont shave AT ALL for about 6 months. That is how i eventually grew a handle bar mustache. The stubble i have on my face right now is a week of me growing it where most others can grow it in 2 days. relax, it is not a race. And the hair that I do grow in is bleach blonde, almost white. They have a wonderful product out there called just for men mustache and beard.  I also bought a stylish hat. Go to a hat store and buy a nice 50-100 dollar hat. Then there is glasses. Not everybody's face is made for any of these. This is my own personal experience. Hope it helped.

You have nothing to worry about. I'd happily go without a beard but it doesn't suit me. Just because your bald doesn't mean you have to have a beard and as so many people do individuality is a cool thing.

I think earrings are very dated now and am not keen on that idea.

If you think glasses are the way to go if it will make you happy. go to your opticians and try them on. Both my parents wore glasses and I really wanted them when I was younger, funnily enough now I need them for the PC and hardly wear them! Age might mean you need them in the future, so be careful what you wish for!
