First time shaver 59

Well... I shaved my head for the first time 2 days ago. My S/O was good enough to agree to a one time headshave, because she wanted me to be me. She immediately said she loved it, and to not plan on growing hair back for a while. I had a full head of silver hair, so I was really nervous about going bald. I love it too. Reading other posts here helped a lot, thanks!

Okay, I'm gonna say it (even though most think it but will not say it). . There are many guys that do not rock a bald look well. Myself included. I think I do not look particularly good with a bald head but you my friend, could be a male bald model. That look is extremely good on you. You got the head shape and with the groomed goatee bravo man throw away the shampoo and stock up on the razors, I think you should stick with this look for a long time

Welcome, Red Dog! I must say, although you look good with hair, you look much better and distinguished without hair. Enjoy the forum!

Thank you everyone, I have gotten all positive comments from all my friends. I got a lot of razor burn the first time, so I switched to an electric shaver for a while. I still don't know the guy in the mirror, but I love the feel of baldness. I'm really surprised how fast my hair grows in one day.

Yep must agree...the look suites you. As for the razor burn. I suggest that you shave in the shower and soak your head in the hottest water you can reasonably handle. Then lather up and use a good quality razor (I use a triple pivoting blade) and use little more than the weight of the razor. Many people use a tone of pressure on the razor which is not needed and will irritate the skin and cause razor burn and possible ingrown hairs. I find that using hot water will dramatically soften the hair and open the pores giving you a closer shave. After the head is slick again the rinse your head with pure cold water. (this closes up the pores). Pat your head dry and use a good quality non greasy moisturizer on you noodle (I personally like St. Ives deep conditioning moisturizer - and it's inexpensive also).
BTW...your hair will grow at about 1 millimeter every two days (the thickness of a dime).
Good luck and welcome to the brotherhood!
