College World Series...any college baseball fans here?
« on: June 12, 2013, 09:15:18 AM »
I know college football and basketball get the lion's share of the attention of college sports (justifiably so). But I was wondering how many of you follow college baseball or the college world series from Omaha? If so, who are you rooting for?

Here in the House of Schro, we are big Oregon State Fans. My father is an OSU alum (captain of the golf team in the 60's) and we've always followed Oregon State athletics. My son is an exceptional baseball player (not just "dad speak", he really is exceptional...probably the top catcher in our town at his age) and has already met OSU's head coach and let the coach know that he's interested in OSU as a possible place to attend and play baseball. This past season, my son and I spent a weekend at OSU watching them play Arizona State. Their baseball facilities are awesome.

I know a lot can happen in 5 years, he's only going into 8th grade, but it is great to see my son motivated by such a strong, long term goal.

So, GO BEAVERS!

For obvious reasons, I'm rooting for LSU......that said, I think this team may be even more special than the 2009 Tigers, the last LSU team to win it all...I'm not taking anything for granted, this year's entire CWS field is pretty worthy and formidable....Too bad Vandy lost out at the last possible moment, would have been nice to see them there after the year they had. That said:

GO TIGERS!!!!!

I am a casual college baseball fan.  I have become more of a fan since they have cooled offthe "hot " bats with length/weight restrictions.  Previously it was like watching slow pitch softball - 400' homeruns on fastballs on the handle of the bat.  No rooting interest this year but will watch most of it.

OSU vs. Mississippi St. in an hour.
Beavers have to beat MSU twice. This is a rematch of Game 1 (MSU beat OSU 5-4).

Go Beavers!

Wasn't meant to be for the Bayou Bengals....That said, given the quality play of all of the teams there, whoever comes out on top will have earned it.
