Hi guys,
I'm a Belgian which is shaving is head at 0.5 mm with a trimmer for 8 years now.
I tried the complete bald look last summer for the first time.
During the winter I let it grow again but now I'm starting to shave again and I really really like it

I face-shave with a straight for over 3 years now but don't dare to do my head with it, and I honestly think it would take to much time...
Now I'm shaving with the fusion blades but they are damn expensive ! (one of the reasons I started straight shaving) so I'm looking for an alternative,
and thinking of a DE saftey razor.
Who of you guys use this? And after some experience does it go nearly as quick as a fusion/headblade?
Thanks in advance for the feedback !
G'Day Mikali mate

Thanks for the intro and welcome to the Bastion Of Baldness.
I personally use the Headblade ATX and I love it!!

Hi Mikali: Welcome to the sly fraternity. Glad that ya joined us. As a former Fusion head shaver. . . I completely switched (April 2012) to the traditional way of shaving. I get the best shaves using a DE or SE razor. Visit this link and you will discover that there are several SBG members who shave the traditional way.

welcome....im a recent convert to de shaving... its so much better than cartridge, though I have one as a back up....old habits...using a brush and a proper shaving cream...there's nothing that comes close! you need to be careful....no ploughing straight in...let the razor do the work....no more pulling. ..no more razor burn!
Welcome to the forum! Here's another vote for the DE razor, though I do use the ATX as a backup.
Ok glad to hear that some of you dare to use a DE

The brush and good shaving soap is a habit already, waaaaay better than the canned stuff they sell !
The problem I experience is that I still have hair, absolutely no baldness, and with hair I mean LOTS of it

Therefore I wonder if a DE is a good option as I'm a little afraid I would be "pulling" my hear out with it?
I get no pulling using a de, I let the weight of the razor do the work, if you buzz down with no guard then it'll be fine
As my birthday is closing in I'm thinking to ask for a DE razor for me head

I have been reading a lot and tend to ask for a Merkur Futur, I think the learning curve will not be that bad as I'm comfortable using a Straight razor already,
but maybe I'm mistaking?

Keep us posted on what DE razor you get. Our very own ( D o u g) is a proud owner of a Merkur Futur. Merkur has some great DE razors. I have a Merkur 37C, 37G, and a Progress. Enjoy your DE shaves.

Well actually I noticed one big difference between the Futur and the 37C, could it be that the futur doesn't have this "guard" or what's it called?
Is it usefull?
Just came back from the shop. Haven't bought anything yet but the salesmen (and my mentor in straight razor shaving) advised me not to by the Futur because in his opinion it's too pricey and too heavy ... He recommended the 27C with this an "open" guard/slant as the best alternative.
To be honest I was shocked about the weight of the futur myself, that thing weighs a ton !

What do you, experienced guys, think?
