Hey Gang... First Post
« on: June 05, 2013, 08:43:37 PM »
I've been hanging around since August but this is my first post... I started losing my hair when I was in my early 20s and I'm now 41. I still have a little peach fuzz on top but have a major league horseshoe going on - which I despise. I have been buzzing my hair with no guard on the sides and back and using a #2 guard on the top for several years now. I'm obviously not alone in my fears of what the future holds for me. I've always had issues with self confidence and losing my hair just made it that much worse. I just want to get to a place where I can be confident and comfortable in my own skin. Hopefully I have come to the right place to empower myself to take control of my hair loss and my life...

Welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place for advice and support on dealing with your hair loss....Are you happy buzzing your remaining hair? We do have members that keep their hair buzzed as opposed to shaved. If you think that going sly may be your next move, go for it! If you don't like it, you can always grow it back. Thanks for posting, and post a picture if you can.

Welcome here, Ksgreene21.

In case of thinning hair, buzzing hair is often the last step before shaving it all. And, as SlySirHarry13 said it, nothing is definite. In case you don't like the shaved look - and I am pretty confident it would not happen - you can still grow it back.

Moreover, if - as you said - you had self confidence issues, shaving your head could really be a turning point in your life ; just like many other SBG members (including me...).

See you on the forum

Hey, Ksgreene21!

I got tired of the horseshoe going around my head too.  Shaving it off made a world of difference.  I figured I could grow it back in about five weeks if I didn't like it.  That was six months ago, and I have never regretted it.

going with a very short buzz or shave actually gave me confidence - capable of being different.

Welcome to the Forum! I did the whole buzz the head/horseshoe thing for a few years before I shaved. When I look at old photos now I always wonder what I was thinking.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome! I already feel better knowing that I'm not alone. I think that I am about ready to make the jump... I got myself a Headblade ATX and some Headslick . I may just go for it tonight!

I jumped from the "horse shoe" straight to shaving it 3 weeks ago with no regrets.  Go for it!

I wasn't able to do it Friday night but I got rid of it on Saturday... It went well and today is day two!! It's definitely going to take a little getting used to. I just hope it looks okay on me...
