Last minute thoughts
« on: June 03, 2013, 05:40:50 AM »
So I recently had my headblade atx through the post and got some head lube and head matte from Headblade coming through the post.

I have planned for me to try sly on the first day of my holiday (vacation) which is in 3 weeks.

Did anyone else plan it in advance like this and if you did, did you get any second thoughts on doing it?

Am I missing anything from what I have ordered so far?

Choosing to go sly over holiday is a great choice and I know several members have taken that route.  If you are at all hesitant it gives you time to realize what a great choice you have made.   The only thing I noticed missing was a choice of shaving cream.  Personally I have been using the Headslick for years and love it.   Once the deed is done be sure to follow the 30 day rule.

AH yes. Forgot to mention the Headslick is coming too.

I haven't planned on getting anymore blades yet for my atx as I'm going to use the one that came with it. Do people have any experience on how many shaves the blade will last for. Going to go wtg for most of the week and planning on doing it every other day.

Oh one more question. Sun lotion (spray) Any suggestions?

I'm a planner. Set my head shave day about six weeks out. Wife was going to be out of town, so planned for right after her departure, but I jumped the gun and shaved my head a few days early. Could not wait.

Went well . Almost wonder why I did not just do it right away.  Still shaving a year and a half later.

It was pretty much spur of the moment for me. I shaved my head just one day after I decided to do it.
Hair is over rated.

I shaved my head when I was on vacation. I was thinking about going sly but I can't say I planned it on a certain day. Shaving head on vacation helps you get used to a new you and experiment with head shaving techniques.

Planning ahead is not a bad idea but frankly once the itch is there I reckon you will probably jump the gun so to speak.  Good luck.

I thought about it for a few months before I finally took a deep breath and put the trimmers to my hairline on New Year's Day.  That first cut was the hardest.

I use the same razor for both the face and scalp.  Basic shaving gel and a Gillette Fusion.  I found that I get better control and a closer shave than I did with the HeadBlade I bought.

I strongly suggest that you use a good balm for the first few weeks for post shaving as your scalp is going to be sensitive for a while - much like your face may have been when you started shaving.

all I thought was "why did I wait so long" take your time, take a shower first, hot water  makes the hair softer, and use a brush and real shaving soap, it's so much better than the crap in a tin...and go with the grain for the first shave, see how your head reacts. ..good luck

I planned it out for almost two months.  You gave yourself plenty of time to adjust, don't worry about if you're prepared.  Just stick with it and keep learning and you'll find you're a natural at it in no time

Welcome to the SBG forum.

Thoroughly recommend the 30 day shave trial. No matter what, stick the month long course. And then see how you feel at the end of it.

This is what I did. And that was 16 months ago....
