Hello :)
« on: May 31, 2013, 07:59:45 AM »
Greetings from the Chicago area

I am on of those that shave my head not due to balding.  I have been keeping my hair really short for about 12 years now and went full shaved on Easter.  One of the main reasons to shave was I decided to make a MAJOR lifestyle change and shaving is my way of reminding myself that I'm not the man I used to be. You see last summer I was closing in on 300lbs (289 to be exact) and realized that something had to change so I started working on dropping weight.  In Jan I was tipping at 270 but that wasn't anywhere near where I wanted to be so I started looking into things other than calorie counting and all that. I found Paleo (aka The caveman diet), did tons of research and on April 1st (at 265) I made the transition, shaved my head and haven't looked back. I'm now closing in on 220 with my goal of the 190s by summer's end in sight.

I'm married 22 years, have 2 sons (15 and 12), play guitar, former offroading Jeep owner, work in the industrial electronics repair industry.

Welcome here,

Hairstyle is definitely linked with changes in life.

A few years back, I had very long hair. After a major change in life, I cut ma hair.

Then, still a major change - associated with thinning hair - made me shave my head.

If I ever have one more major change, don't know what to do - there seems to be no next step... :-\

Cutting your head off seems too drastic.

Yes I have had that thought.... maybe there is a lesson there... maybe no major change when a major change would normally occur, will be a major change :)
and the end of our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time
