So I recently made the jump and shaved my lid. Hasn't even been a full week and I'm having second thoughts about doing this. My wife is still on the fence along with my coworkers. (Working Ems I have a work and home family more than others think). So far I have been using thw HB sport with headslick. I've been shaving once a day really hat the fealing of the stubble. Here is a pic before and after. Can some one help feel really self conscious of this big change.

I don't wear many hats, love my Oakleys

Was told to start wearing hats and sunblock on the forums so have been trying. Just not big into them.
Any advice. As you can see I'm not a small man and am kinda unsure of this. Please help

It's normal to be undecided shortly after doing the deed for the first time. That's where the 30 day rule comes into play. Commit to keeping your head shaved for 30 days, whether you want to or not, before making a final decision. By then you should have a better idea about whether it is for you or not.
BTW, the look suits you. Welcome aboard.

Hey, bearmedic:
I personally think that your hair wasn't that bad.....but you look more professional and clean cut with the shaved head, IMO. As far as your wife, kids, and the coworkers, it's something new for them too. In due time, everyone will adjust and if you decide to stay sly long term, people will get used to it and hardly say anything. Just give yourself time like Razor said and whatever you decide, at least you know what you look like shaved. BTW, it looks good, and I'm not just saying that.

G'Day bearmedic mate

Personally I think the Sly suits you but hey that's only me.
Of course your going to feel a little apprehensive about it, I did when I did it 17 years ago.
You have to give yourself, family and friends time to get use to the new look, as Razor said give the 30 day rule a try.
If after 30 days you don't like it...grow it back...no worries.
I bet you will get use to the Sly look and love it and after a while your family and friends will know you no other way.
If you don't like wearing hats, just make sure if have sunscreen on your noggin. There are plenty around, I like the non greasy type.

Any advice.
Yes. Try the 30 day trial. It'll give you a chance to adapt to your new look and new routine.
Good luck.

Not being among your relatives and discovering you both ways, I would say that bald style suits you better. It's more manly.
But I understand that people who knew you before might need time to get used to the new look.
BUT let's do a little bit of pseudo-psychology : if your relatives are on the fence, isn't it due to the fact that you don't feel confident with your new style? Could they feel your uncomfort?
Try to consider this is your new style and you love it. Program yourself to that. If you manage to mix baldness with self-confidence, you'll live a greater life. Head-shaving has changed mine.
Let us know what happens next weeks.

Having chimed in on your other post regarding blood loss and irritation I would say that, IMO, shaving daily at this stage might be a bit much. I've been shaving for over 10 years and have what might be considered a calloused scalp but most of the time I shave just every other day. Aside from it not being necessary (for me) because my hair is light to begin with I've gotten used to the little bit o' velcro feeling that I get on the second day. Plus my irritation is greatly reduced.

Thanks everyone. Yes my confidence in my self has gone up over the past few days about it (just wanting to get the bumpa under control working on that now). My wife has also has gotten on board saying any money we save will go to having her hair done. Not a cheap task as of late.

Bald looks good on an EMS/EMT type of person.
My wife was not crazy about it at first, but she enjoys it now.
30 days is important. Anything less is jumping the gun at second guessing your decision to try out SLY.
It's a keeper. Looks good on you.
