A matter of time
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:04:03 AM »
Hi guys, this is my first post here (except for the introduction one). Please forgive my English mistakes, I'm not a native speaker  :) I'm 22 now but I knew since i was 16-17 years old that I would have lost my hair, just like my father did at 24 and my uncle at 19. Still, I hoped the hair loss would happen in my late 20s or, possibly, my early 30s. Hope wasn't enough, so when in the last 6 months I noticed that I was starting to lose my hair on the top of my head I decided it was time to shave: I always promised to myself I would have shaved my head completely as soon as I started seeing hair loss on the top. I came here and I read many of your stories, but most importantly I learned how to start shaving my head without ripping off my scalp  :P then I bought a new Philips electric razor that can shave your head completely (0 mm) and an Headblade ATX in case I didn't like the electric shave. I shaved my hair 5mm long first and it looked absolutely awful! After I finished laughing I tried with 1mm later and it was way better, now it's exactly 2 months since I shaved my head the first time and I absolutely don't regret it. I still need to master the technique with the Headblades (last week I bought a Sport too) but I'm not worried since that is going to come with time. I'm not cutting my head or anything like that, it's just that I'm still incredibly slow at shaving my head  ;D
For the first couple of weeks I wasn't really confident but everyone has been really supportive with me; now it's like I've been shaving my head all my life, I even look better in photos than I did before. My regular shape of the head and the fact that I'm quite tall and skinny (I'm 6ft3" 180lbs., thanks google converter!) were among the reasons that made me take that drastic decision without any second thoughts. My girfriend didn't like it at first but now she's used to it (although she still doesn't like the felling of my super-smooth head), and even though it took me almost a month, I can now joke about it and tolerate a little bit of banter without starting a riot  ;D I would definitely suggest to everybody that has started balding to pick up a blade and shave their heads, it feels really good. I've been shaving for 60 days and not in a single moment I thought I could ever let my hair grow back.

P.S. I'm not here to discuss politics, but I think that men with a comb-over should be fined by their government  :P

Welcome, Volk and thank you for sharing your story with us.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Great positive story Volk.  It should inspire anybody sitting on the fence about going sly

thanks for your story.  I am sure you look great and soon others will only recognize you as shaved.  In time you will find a routine that reduce the time and effort.
