Hair \ Head Oil or Moisturiser

Dear All,


Thanks to you guys, I am trimming my head weekly down to a 0.5. I notice that I am getting a bit of a dry scalp, especially after trimming!

Can you all recommend a good hair\head oil or moisturiser to help prevent this?

Head lube, baby oil (that will be shiny though),  ph neutral cream (available at any pharmacy), sorebelene, face moisturiser, Shea butter, tinted moisturiser, bio-oil.....

What do you have laying around the house. Even some olive oil could be a start.

It's probably more important to figure out why it's so dry and go from there.

What are you washing it with?

If you use an oil, your skin should be damp (not dripping wet) in order for it to be most effective.

I have tried a lot and most cause acne for me but I find "John Allan's Cool Face" fantastic. No alcohol in it or any artificial stuff, all natural products and it doesn't block the pores like many other moisterisers do and it's refreshing.
You only need the smallest amount each time, as its nice and thin and spreads well

I've found that shaving it down completely and using an aftershave such as Nivea is very effective in controlling the flaking.

HeadLube is the way to go.  No dye or fragrences (only has a very light lotion smell to it), comes in glossy or matte and the name is just fun.

Hi EN4CER, I'm from the UK as well and I used a tube of 'Maca Root Energetic Face Protector' from the Body Shop on my head for a while when my scalp was dry. I shave sly so not such a problem anymore. It's a good option if you can't find headlube etc...

Thanks for all your replies. I have been using Bodyshop face protector on my face for over 20 year, must try it more on my head.

I've been using the wife's hair oil, that she uses to protect her hair when using her hot hair straighteners, not bad and non greasy. must try and get some Headlube tho

I use Nivea and Bee Bald Smooth.  I've tried HeadLube and found that while I get a great shine, my head feels very sticky a few hours later.

So far I've been using a hair/scalp moisturizer thats a mix of shea butter & coconut oil in a light Petroleum jelly base.  Just a dab covers my whole head and dosent feel greasy afterward.  And it smells nice

What I've been trying for the last two weeks is getting right back to basics
My problem is that many products are too thick and greasy and expensive.

So I did the following....

10ml sorbolene mixed with 10ml of water

I put it into a little travel container, shook it up and the result is an after shave that is soothing, it's stopped the dry skin and it definitely isn't greasy. This method should work with anything that is waterbased
